Five dice, five enemy lanes, and a perfectly sensible plan that has yet to survive its first roll. Build poker-style combos, combine cards, and upgrade your dice in a 33-round turn-based roguelike. Luck matters. Leaving it in charge is another matter entirely.

About This Game

You have a plan. The dice have reservations.

DD33: Death by Dice is a turn-based roguelike about poker-style combinations, card synergies, and reconsidering decisions that looked rather sound a moment ago. Five lanes of enemies stand before you. Five dice are yours to command. Behind the enemies waits a boss who has sensibly delegated the introductions.

Choose your attacking dice, build combinations, and turn a small collection of cards into a carefully arranged chain of bonuses. There are 33 rounds ahead. A good roll may get you through one. It helps to have something else prepared for the rest.

An impressive combination is not the same as a convincing argument

Each die attacks its own lane. Damage goes through the enemies first; only what remains reaches the boss. A high multiplier looks promising, but an enemy at the end of the next lane may call for a less glamorous decision. How much damage you deal matters. Where it goes matters just as much.

Some rolls deserve a second chance. Others require several

SHATTER destroys selected dice and replaces them with fresh rolls. Your supply grows each turn. Fix an awkward roll now, or save your attempts for a situation you currently prefer to consider unlikely. Values, colors, and lane positions give you plenty of reasons to reconsider.

Find cards that work well in company

Between battles, buy and sell cards, combine their effects, and rearrange their activation order. Strengthen combinations and colors, build growing bonuses, freeze enemies, or repeat attacks. The right arrangement can do more for you than another expensive acquisition.

Victories also earn materials for upgrading the base damage of your die faces. In time, even a modest one can carry considerable weight without looking any different.

Take your time. Just mind the turns

The game does not hurry your clicks. It counts your turns. When RUSH begins, enemies close in and your remaining health becomes a more insistent part of the conversation. Boss modifiers change the terms of battle, so finding a reliable approach does not excuse you from checking the board.

Consider what you will have left for the next round

Health carries between battles. Purchases, healing, and upgrades all serve the same run, though they occasionally compete for your attention. Even a rare blank die has its uses: leave it out of an attack to recover health, or select it to temporarily block new enemies from entering its lane.

Five dice may not sound like much. Until each one becomes your responsibility.
