Wo Xing Xia (I Am Xia) is a historical interactive fiction spanning 2,300 years. From the late Warring States period to 1949, sixteen generations of one ordinary family write, marry, fight and survive through every dynasty — in hand-drawn ink-line art, with no heroes and no shortcuts.

About This Game

This is not a story of heroes. It is a story of family.

One dusk before 221 BC, a traveling teacher crouched on a river dam and taught a village boy to write a single character: "人" — person.

2,300 years later, a child sprawls on a desk, tracing the same character with a brush, crooked and ink-stained.

Between them: sixteen generations.

Ji, Shu, Zhang, You, Jing, Yan, Mu, Ce, Sheng, Zhou, Yan, Mo, Heng, Zhong, Xie, Lin — sixteen ordinary men, each watching the world change its colors.

Every chapter, you are the head of the household

No chosen one, no stat panels. Each generation faces the same things: land, taxes, soldiers, books, marriage, funerals. Your choices are few, but every one of them carries weight — and each chapter ends with a ledger of what this family gained and what it lost.

Features

  • 2,300 years, 16 generations — from the Warring States to the Republic era, 32 chapters, two per dynasty, never skipping a beat.
  • 211 meaningful choices — no stat grinding, no affection grinding. Choices change people and events, recorded in black and white at the end of every chapter.
  • Three true crossroads — serve or withdraw (Three Kingdoms); sword or brush (Song); loyalty or survival (early Qing). No right answers, only the road you choose for this family.
  • Four invisible ledgers — status, letters, martial skill, bloodline, quietly tracked across centuries until the very last page.
  • Visible proof of survival — in every dynasty something real carries on: a hand-copied scripture, a wooden tablet inscribed on both sides, a sheet of paper full of names. Why China never fell apart is shown, never told.
  • 235,000+ characters, hand-drawn ink art — 40 dynasty backdrops, 12 CG scenes, a 12–15 hour first playthrough.

Three promises

  • No battlefields, no gore — wars happen off-screen. You see the people before, after, and on the road.
  • Historical figures never speak for themselves — they appear, but every word they say is grounded in sources and logic.
  • No slogans at the end — the final frame is always a child.

Who is this for

If you finished "1587, A Year of No Significance" and wanted more; if you have played many visual novels and found most of them too light; if you ever wondered why "Huaxia" — this civilization — never scattered the way other ancient civilizations did:

This game has no answers. It only spreads 2,300 years out on the table, and shows you one surname.
