About This Game

A deep colony simulator on an alien world.

Your crew was bound for Mars. A wormhole brought you somewhere else. Start with a dropship, a mobile miner and limited supplies. Build the industry, life support and defences that turn a landing site into a home.

Red Sol is a single-player colony simulator combining city building, industrial logistics, research and colony defence on a procedurally generated alien world.

You build the systems. Your colony grows.

You manage resources, production, research and defence. The District Planner grows your settlement, building homes, commercial venues and industry as demand rises. Colonists crew buildings, assist production and contribute to the colony economy.

  • Establish. Generate power, secure water, oxygen and food, and connect the buildings your colony needs.
  • Expand. Supply a District Hub, zone space and let the planner build to demand. Research unlocks what both of you can build.
  • Defend. Position vehicles and towers to cover your colony. Keep ammunition and power flowing as the perimeter grows.

A foothold. A colony. A home.

From your first habitat to a town under glass. The Mega Dome brings homes, gardens and venues together beneath meteor-hardened glass, with room for up to 420 colonists. Building it is a megaproject; keeping it alive takes a working colony.

Growth means more than placing homes. Keep life support running and build the services that turn survival into a life worth living.

Ten biomes. A different horizon.

Three cinematic biome illustrations: red Ferric Canyon, green Methane Marsh and snow-covered Cryo Tundra.Cinematic illustrations · Ferric Canyon, Methane Marsh and Cryo Tundra

Explore ten alien biomes with their own terrain and plant life. Find deposits, encounter wildlife and megafauna, and plan around weather and disasters. Where you land shapes the resources and conditions you begin with.

Keep the air flowing and the warehouses supplied.

Put your Mobile Regolith Miner to work scraping the surface. Its tracked chassis, solar panels and two docked cargo drones help turn a first landing into an industrial colony.

Use conveyors to move solid resources and pipes to carry liquids and gases. Cargo drones deliver materials to construction sites, while rail and air freight connect your growing industry. Each expansion needs a supply network that can keep up.

Build a city with a purpose.

  • Obsidian Arcology — A vertical city for 300 colonists, bringing comfort, fun, connection and wellness into one skyline.
  • Verdant Arcology — A garden city for 240 colonists. Planted terraces supply its oxygen and contribute a surplus to the wider colony.
  • Granary Arcology — Housing for 220 colonists combined with growing terraces that supplement your food supply.

Research your way beyond the outpost.

Choose your priorities across 133 research nodes covering industry, life support, medicine, logistics, defence and orbital technology. Improve the systems your colony depends on and unlock advanced equipment. Field discoveries open further upgrades, while the in-game encyclopedia explains the resources, buildings and creatures you encounter.

Raise your ambitions.

The surface is only the start. Build the space elevator's ground station, ship its parts to orbit and connect the tether. A staffed elevator car links your planetary colony to the station above.

Know what is coming.

Illustrated threat dossiers: a rolling red crystalline Volvite, approximately 4.5 metres across, beside an armoured Dolerite, approximately 16.4 metres tall. Extracting valuable alien resources can disturb nearby nests and bring raids to your worksites. Rolling crystal swarms, airborne shards, armoured titans and burrowing attackers demand different answers.

  • Volvite — Rolling crystal creatures that attack in swarms. One is weak; a pack is dangerous.
  • Fulgurite — Floating attackers that launch shards. Some strikes call lightning and start fires.
  • Dolerite — Rock-bodied titans whose armour shrugs off small-arms fire.
  • Fossorite — Burrowing attackers that can emerge inside the colony. Defend more than the outer perimeter.

Defend everything you have built.

Illustrated unit dossiers, left to right: Hornet rapid-response gunship, Quillback aerial defence platform with four turrets, and Jackal walker with an autocannon and six rockets. Cutaway artwork reveals imagined internal machinery.Illustrated dossiers · Hornet, Quillback and Jackal · Select image to enlarge

Meet three of your early mobile defences. Send a fast aerial response, escort a convoy or reinforce a threatened worksite.

  • Hornet — A highly mobile gunship with an autocannon and guided rockets for rapid response.
  • Quillback — An aerial defence platform with four independently aiming turrets and 800 rounds for ground and air targets.
  • Jackal Gun Walker — An entry-tier mobile defender with 180 autocannon rounds and six rockets.

As your colony grows, add heavier vehicles and specialised defensive structures:

  • Siege Tank — Heavy armour and a three-barrel turret trade speed for firepower. Carries 45 high-explosive shells, fired in three-round bursts.
  • Longbow Missile Launcher — Guided rocket volleys from a 36-rocket magazine. Cover its minimum-range blind spot with other defences.
  • Sunlance Laser — Twin laser barrels burn through heavy armour. Supply plenty of power and protect it from swarms.

Take the fight across the colony with fast Hornet gunships, heavy Condor bombing runs and the Hunchback's armour-piercing cannon. Mix mobile units and fixed defences to meet threats on the ground and in the air.
