About This Content

The 11th-century Iberia of Crown of Hispania was built one sketch at a time. This 116-page digital artbook shows how the game's look took shape, from the first research boards to the finished art you see in the game.

Medieval manuscripts, historical architecture and the landscapes of the peninsula all fed one visual language, shared by every character, map, illustration and icon. The book sets early explorations and revisions beside the final versions, so you can see how each piece got there.

What's Inside

• The World of Crown of Hispania: the maps of the peninsula, from parchment drafts to the finished campaign map.

• Building the World: art direction boards, water and map-edge studies, how the cities and capitals were built, and sprite sheets for the Iberian and Moorish armies.

• Forces of Hispania: the historical figures, plus portrait sets for Basque, French, Slavic, Moorish, Iberian and Berber characters, from line art to final paint at every age.

• Telling History: event illustrations, landscapes and cities, and painted scenes including the death of Sancho III of Navarre and the coup in the Caliphate of Córdoba.

• Design the Experience: the main menu, HUD, coats of arms and flags, trait and building icons, and event windows.
