What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“STARSHIP: EMBER REACH is a single-player spaceship-building and space-combat game. We are using Early Access to improve the playable combat, ship construction, progression and user experience with player feedback. Our focus is to make the current single-player game more reliable, clearer to learn and better balanced.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We have not set a fixed duration or a 1.0 release date. The length of Early Access will depend on progress with stability, performance, progression and the single-player campaign, as well as player feedback. We plan to share progress and any revised release expectations through Steam updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to refine the single-player campaign, improve onboarding, mission balance, ship construction and weapon feedback, and address performance and stability issues. Additional content will be considered based on development resources and player feedback. Multiplayer, a persistent online world and additional large maps are not included in the current version or promised as part of this purchase.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Windows version includes playable single-player space missions, modular ship building and refitting, multiple weapon types, equipment progression, enemy ships and local save/load. Keyboard and mouse controls and English and Simplified Chinese interfaces are available. It is still in development: balancing, usability, performance and bugs may change during Early Access. Normal updates are intended to preserve progress, but major incompatible save or progression changes may require a reset; affected data and the reason will be explained in update notices. Please purchase based on the current playable content, rather than expected future additions.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“A price change during Early Access or at the 1.0 release has not been decided. The current price is shown on the Steam store page for your region. Any later pricing decision will take the available content into account and will be communicated through Steam.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can report bugs and discuss combat, ship building, progression and usability through the Steam Community discussions or the support contact listed on the store page. We plan to use reproducible bug reports and gameplay feedback to help prioritize fixes and improvements, and explain notable changes in Steam update notes.”

About This Game

Design a ship, recover what you can, and decide what your next sortie needs.

STARSHIP: EMBER REACH is a single-player space game about modular ship building, tactical combat, and recovery. This is the Early Access version of the full single-player game. Build a ship around your preferred approach. Inspect the vessel in the studio, place and fit weapons and ship systems, then adjust the configuration before launching into tactical space missions. Every sortie connects the workshop to the decisions you make in the field.

Build in the studio

  • Inspect your assembled ship and its installed components from multiple angles.
  • Place and fit equipment, then rotate and zoom the view to inspect your configuration.
  • Manage weapons and ship systems as part of a persistent refit and recovery loop.
  • Use fabrication, upgrading, synthesis, and dismantling to turn recovered materials into practical changes.

Command a tactical sortie

  • Coordinate independent weapon groups and set their orders for the situation in front of you.
  • Use the tactical radar to select contacts and direct separate focus groups.
  • Work within the mission's range, charge, cooldown, line-of-sight, and hull-occlusion rules.
  • Read damage feedback, recover materials from wrecks, secure cards and materials, and extract what you carry.

Early Access development

Play the current single-player game while development continues. We plan to improve stability, performance, mission balance and the ship-building experience with player feedback. The current game uses local saves; major incompatible save or progression changes may require a reset, which will be explained in update notices. Please read the Early Access questions above for the current scope and development plans.
