Your next game needs room. Your favourites deserve to stay. ROOMKEEP helps you find installed games worth compressing, see what you could save, and make the final choice yourself. It reduces the disk space used by eligible game files while keeping the games installed.

Know what you can save before you commit

• Find your games. Discover installed Steam games or choose a game folder yourself.
  
• Preview the savings. Scan disk usage and estimate potential savings from samples. Estimates stay clearly separate from actual results.
  
• Choose your plan. Select a game or set a space target. Review the folder, mode and compatibility information before confirming.
  
• See the real result. Check the space actually reclaimed, plus any files that were skipped or could not be processed.
  
• Restore when needed. Return processed files to their recorded pre-compression storage state. Restoration requires enough free space.

Real measurements. Results that vary.

In a test on 23 September 2026, Hollow Knight: Silksong build 22479045 went from 7.65 GiB to 2.30 GiB of disk allocation using LZX: 5.35 GiB reclaimed (69.9%). The tested cave-bench scene loaded after compression and again after restoration.

Other games saved less in the same LZX test series: Hades build 10929685 reclaimed 760.7 MiB, and Brotato build 23429717 reclaimed 63.0 MiB across eligible files. All three installations were restored, with matching file-content hashes. These are measured examples from specific builds and scenes, not guaranteed savings or a test of every gameplay scenario. GiB and MiB are binary units.

Clear choices. Clear boundaries.

Unknown games are left out of automatic recommendations. Verified on tested build appears only when the current installation matches the recorded validation scope; a different version or changed scope requires manual review. Brotato remains Unknown because its sparse main package is skipped.

ROOMKEEP checks selected folders before processing and blocks detected running or updating games. Unsupported files are reported. It does not uninstall games, delete saves or silently recompress files in the background. Savings vary by game and mode; no frame-rate or loading-speed improvement is promised.

Local by design. Six interface languages.

No ROOMKEEP account is required. Your game files stay on your PC. The Windows runtime is included. English is the default on first launch; the interface and offline help also support Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian.

For Windows 11 x64 and local NTFS game folders. SteamOS, Linux, macOS and network drives are not supported.

ROOMKEEP includes pre-generated AI-assisted decorative artwork and AI-assisted interface text, help text, translations and marketing copy, edited and reviewed during development. AI tools were also used to assist software development. ROOMKEEP does not generate AI content while running, does not connect to an AI service, and does not upload game files to an AI service. Reported storage savings come from recorded measurements, not AI-generated estimates or invented results.
