Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Distributed Shield already provides a playable sandbox with force construction, route and formation planning, sensor tracking, component-based air defence, manual and automatic exercise launches, live event views, saving and after-action scoring. Early Access will let strategy and simulation players help us improve clarity, balance, performance and usability while the catalogue and scenario-authoring tools continue to grow.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect approximately 12–18 months. This is an estimate rather than a promise; quality and player feedback will determine the final schedule.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add a stronger guided training suite, improved adversarial automation, more scenario-authoring and sharing tools, expanded after-action analysis, additional performance and accessibility settings, and further validation of public-source game profiles. We also plan to improve the native 3D presentation.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is a single-player sandbox. Players can construct both fictional exercise forces, deploy units, create routes and formations, configure altitude and payloads, control sensor emissions, operate multiple command and sensor displays, launch eligible exercise weapons, save locally and generate an after-action score. There is no campaign, multiplayer, Steam Workshop or Steam Cloud support in the current build. Balance, performance and usability remain areas of active development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as substantial content, training and scenario tools are completed. Price changes will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will use Steam Discussions and structured feedback posts for bug reports, usability feedback, public-source corrections and feature priorities. Equipment claims will require a traceable public source, and classified or operationally sensitive submissions will not be used.”

About This Game

Design the battlespace. Command the network. Understand every outcome.

Distributed Shield is a real-time command simulation in which you construct both sides of a fictional near-future air and missile exercise. Deploy aircraft, radars, command nodes and air-defence components across a georeferenced South Asian theatre, then plan routes, formations, altitude profiles, payloads, emission policies and engagement rules before starting the clock.

Once the exercise begins, every view is driven by the same simulation state. Watch detections develop into uncertain tracks, follow missiles through boost, mid-course and terminal flight, or move between command, selected-radar, radar coverage, EO/IR, network, electronic-warfare and live event-camera displays.

Build your own exercise

  • Begin with a blank sandbox or balanced fictional demonstration forces.
  • Deploy Pakistan and India equipment from clearly labelled public-source, reported, contracted and scenario-only catalogues.
  • Create routes with individual waypoint altitude, speed and HOT/COLD/RECOVER instructions.
  • Build formations from two aircraft to large drone swarms.
  • Choose payload tokens, sensor emissions and automatic or operator-controlled exercise launches.
  • Pause, retask, save and score the sandbox whenever you choose.

A connected battlespace

Sensors do not receive perfect information. Radar, EO/IR and passive-RF contacts depend on line of sight, Earth curvature, altitude, aspect, broad signature bands, weather, clutter, scan timing, track quality and network contribution. Component-based air-defence packages require their command, sensor and launcher elements to remain available.

Transparent simulation

The launch panel explains estimated chance, energy, geometry, weather and track factors instead of drawing a fixed “no-escape zone.” Missiles use a time-stepped point-mass game model with boost, sustain, energy decay, lead pursuit, seeker activation and closest-approach assessment. An after-action board records the events and results of the exercise.

Distributed Shield uses deliberately bounded public-source game profiles. It is not certified training software, an operational planning tool or a prediction of real-world military performance.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI assisted with promotional/key artwork, icons, interface content, and portions of written catalogue and store-page text during development. These assets and text were selected and edited during development. The game does not generate AI content during gameplay and does not connect to an AI service. Generated artwork is illustrative and is not presented as documentary imagery.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game depicts fictional military conflict through map symbols, aircraft and missile launches, explosions, interceptions, and destruction of equipment. Combat is abstract and non-graphic. There is no blood, gore, dismemberment, or depiction of injured people.
