A persistent world that keeps its own records. Mine, craft, fight and fish then read about it in a newspaper other players wrote. Three civic houses, guilds with real councils, and a front page that closes forever when the issue does.

About This Game

Bitiverse is a small world with a long memory.

It has a newspaper, three civic houses, a roll of the dead and a working economy and almost everything in them was put there by somebody who was standing in the world at the time.

A newspaper written by the people in it

The Gazette runs weekly. Anyone with something to say can file: a story with a photograph you took yourself, a public notice, a letter to the editor. Stories race for the front page on readers' upvotes and ratings, and when the issue closes the page is fixed for good an archive nobody can quietly rewrite. Set your copy the way a printer would, with crossheads, pulled quotes, rules and a drop capital, and choose the typeface it prints in.

Three houses, and service instead of grind

The Bonesetters heal. The High Ledger keeps the record of the dead, and raises them. The Verdant Circle is light of finger. You swear to one house, open your desk when you are willing to work, and climb by doing the job cures given, souls raised, pockets tried. Your rank is public, and it is earned by turning up rather than by hours logged.

A body that remembers where it has been

Thirteen afflictions track what you do and where you stand. Spend your nights in the marsh, swing a pick for hours, live too long indoors, and it tells on you: the Jitters, Miner's Cough, Green Sickness. Vary your days and they fade on their own. Find a Bonesetter and they will treat you. And when no healer is at a desk anywhere in the world, nothing bites at all.

Dying is a place, not a screen

When you fall, a gravestone stands where it happened with your coin still in it. Walk back and collect it, or petition the High Ledger and have a mourner come and raise you where you lie.
