About This Game

Cosmic Dominion is a 2D space-combat strategy game where arcade dogfighting meets real-time galactic conquest.

Take the stick yourself in fast ship-to-ship combat, then turn every world you take into part of a war machine. Worlds have to be settled, bought, besieged and held against rival commanders who mine, trade, colonise and go to war by the same rules you do.

Learn it as you play

A guided tutorial walks you through one practice galaxy a step at a time: flying, mining, selling ore, upgrading, defending a world, breaching an enemy world and boarding it with your own crew. Each step points at the world it is about and frames the button you need, and it does not move on until you have done it.

Four difficulty levels, from EASY to BRUTAL. On EASY the galaxy waits while you shop, enemy boarding parties take twice as long to land on your worlds, you get extra lives, and your hull leaves the yard with a Targeting Computer fitted. A full in-game glossary covers every weapon, module and rule, and is open from the pause menu at no cost to your game.

A campaign of ten battles

Ten levels, each a fixed galaxy built around one idea: settle your first colonies, out-bid a rival trader for neutral markets, find and board the weakest enemy world, hold every front against raids, outlast an Insectoid invasion, cross a map on raw momentum with flight assist off, fight over asteroid fields, crack a tier-5 fortress, fight beside an ally against a coalition, and finally win a four-way war outright.

Every win earns stars for the difficulty you beat it on, every run is scored, and your best stands on the level's card. Winning levels unlocks scenarios: THE HIVE, endless insectoid survival where the portals multiply; LAST STAND, one fortress against three growing commanders; THE CONVOY, escort couriers across hostile space; BLOCKADE, board the fortress before it takes three of your worlds; THE HEIST, start broke and get rich against the clock; and FOUR FRONTS, your territory in the middle and four commanders on every border.

Dogfight your way through the galaxy

Fly a fully upgradeable flagship across weapon slots: cannons, beam lasers, homing missiles, railguns and area-of-effect ordnance, every mount swivelling to follow your aim. Damage classes matter: kinetic and energy rounds behave differently against shields and hulls, disruptor fire knocks out a target's guns or shield generator, and support weapons can cure a world or seed a plague on an enemy one. Fly with flight assist on, or switch it off for full Newtonian momentum.

Conquer and automate

Planets are economic engines. A world mines its own ore, builds its own garrison, arms its own batteries and pays you a share of everything it earns. Settle dead worlds with crew you hire, win neutral markets by investing in them before a rival does, or break an enemy world's defences until it is breached, then land a boarding party and take its cities intact.

Order your worlds around: right-click an enemy world to muster every spare ship on it, right-click one of your own to call your other worlds to defend it, or right-click empty space to rally your fleet there.

Thirteen factions, each its own

Every faction flies its own way. Six traits (hull, shield, speed, firepower, income and growth) give each one its strengths, and every strength is paid for with a weakness. Each AI commander follows its faction's doctrine: the Dominion's warlords, the Collective's settlers, the Red Maw's berserkers, the Syndicate's armourers and nine more, each courting, colonising, arming and raiding in its own proportions. Commanders mine, trade, build war chests and choose when to go to war, and you beat a faction by taking its last world.

Make the galaxy your own

Eight player slots, human or AI, on any of 13 factions. Set teams and alliances, choose who has a commander, pick how many worlds everyone starts with, the map size, wraparound or a bounded sector, how long the game runs, and whether each faction's worlds are scattered across the map or gathered into territories with frontiers between them. Start from a ready-made galaxy, pin a seed to replay one, or step back and spectate an AI war. Recurring Insectoid invasions come for every faction alike.

Chase side objectives for bounties, unlock over a hundred permanent achievements, and follow your empire through the Planet Registry, the income ledger and in-depth analytics.

Command from the cockpit. Win from orbit.

Core features

  • Guided tutorial — learn to fly, mine, trade, defend, breach and board, one step at a time, with every step pointing at the world and the button it needs.

  • Ten-level campaign — each level a fixed galaxy built around one idea, with stars for every difficulty you beat it on and a best score on every card.

  • Six scenarios — THE HIVE (endless swarm survival), LAST STAND, THE CONVOY, BLOCKADE, THE HEIST and FOUR FRONTS, unlocked through the campaign and playable again as free-play galaxies.

  • Four difficulty levels — EASY pauses the galaxy while you shop and slows enemy landings on your worlds; BRUTAL pays the enemy commanders half as much again.

  • 13 factions with their own identity — six traits per faction, every strength paid for with a weakness, and a doctrine that decides how its commander spends.

  • Siege and board — break a world's defences until it is breached, then land your own crew to take its cities intact instead of grinding it to a ruin.

  • Planet-driven economy — every world mines, trades, grows and pays its holder; settle ruins, invest in neutral markets, mine asteroid fields and fight over the ore in between.

  • Command your worlds — muster every spare ship on a target, call your worlds to defend each other, or rally your fleet to a point in space.

  • Territories or scattered galaxies — start with your worlds gathered into a territory with a frontier, or interleaved across the whole map.

  • Modular flagship — cannons, beams, missiles, railguns and blast weapons with damage and fire-rate tiers, plus modules for boost, auto-aim, cargo, mining and more.

  • Damage classes that matter — kinetic, energy, explosive, biological, medical and disruptor rounds each treat shields, hulls and subsystems differently.

  • A galaxy that tells you what is happening — breach rings, capture flashes, boarding drop pods, a home-defence alarm, planet names, and a death screen that names your killer and lets you choose where to respawn.

  • AI commanders with their own agenda — rivals mine, trade, colonise, besiege and choose when to go to war, by the same rules and prices you play by.

  • Build your own galaxy — eight slots, teams, map size, wraparound or bounded space, game length, ready-made presets, pinned seeds and a spectator mode.

  • Objectives and achievements — bounty orders every run, plus a permanent achievement record that carries across every game you play.

  • Save and load — full mid-game save and restore, autosave and multiple save slots, and a one-click restart of any run.
