Dark Forest is a retro turn-based dungeon crawler centered around family, kinship and tragedy. The game is set in an animal-centric world where creatures live together in small enclaves called 'clearings' in order to stay safe from the dangerous beasts of the ‘dark forests’ that surround the area.

About This Game

The World of Dark Forest

Meet the creature-siblings Kotaro, Akane and Shigure. Follow their story as they protect their home from the surrounding dark forest.  Not all bonds are about romance. In this game, explore a narrative centered around meaningful connection through kinship, trauma and loss.

Why This Game?

👾 Through this entire time we’ve strived to make games for our found-families, our communities, and to bring this story of kinship and belonging to spaces where these messages need to be heard the most.

👾Kamegumi is dedicated to maintaining a healthy, non-exploitative, and sustainable environment for its users, partners, and developers. Dark Forest is being co-developed within the group as it embodies the core values that the collective wishes to see grow in the games industry.
