What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Tank Commander: Major FOE is built around interconnected systems including tactical combat, crew development, research, vehicle progression, persistent enemy intelligence, career records and historical operations. Early Access allows us to expand and refine those systems with feedback from players while continuing to add new campaigns, vehicles, encounters and career content.

The core game is already playable. Early Access is about improving balance, usability and presentation while expanding the war beyond the campaigns currently available.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Tank Commander: Major FOE to remain in Early Access for approximately 6–12 months.

This is an estimate rather than a fixed deadline. The length of Early Access may change depending on player feedback, balance work and the development of additional operations and career content.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the core tactical combat and career systems along with multiple historical operations beginning with the Condor Legion in Spain and continuing into the Second World War.

During Early Access, we plan to expand the conflict with additional operations, vehicles, enemy forces, historical encounters and career events as the war progresses.

We also plan to continue developing crew progression, Higher Command interactions, the War Book intelligence system, research and equipment options, career records, presentation, balance and usability.

The goal for the full version is a broader wartime career with more historical content, greater variety between careers and further refinement of the systems already present in Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version is fully playable and begins in 1937 with the Condor Legion in Spain before continuing through multiple campaigns of the early Second World War.

Players can command a persistent tank crew through turn-based armored combat, choose routes across operation maps, earn Research Points, install and improve equipment, develop crew members and their commander, earn medals and campaign records, and build persistent knowledge of enemy vehicles through the War Book intelligence system.

Careers can end through combat losses, with service history and progression systems carrying consequences into future careers.

The game is still being actively balanced and polished. Some interface elements, artwork, audio, operation balance and career systems will continue to be refined during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We have not finalized the price of the full release. The price may increase as additional content and systems are added during Early Access. Any planned pricing changes will be communicated in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will be an important part of Early Access development.

We plan to use Steam Discussions and update notes to gather feedback on combat balance, operation difficulty, progression pacing, vehicle matchups, crew development, interface usability and new content.

Feedback will help identify where systems need refinement and which areas of the game would benefit most from additional attention as development continues.

We also plan to share significant balance and gameplay changes through update notes so players can see how the game is evolving throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

TANK COMMANDER: MAJOR FOE

Command a German tank crew from the Spanish Civil War into World War II in a turn-based tactical roguelite where every shot, every crewman, and every decision can shape a career.

Begin in 1937 with the Condor Legion in Spain and lead your tank crew through the campaigns of World War II as your career, vehicles, crew, and battlefield experience evolve with the war.

Every engagement is a tense one-on-one armored duel. You have limited Action Points each turn, and survival depends on how you use them.

Aim. Fire. Suppress. Rally. Repair. Maneuver.

Range, facing, terrain, armor, crew condition, and positioning all matter. A poor decision can leave your flank exposed. A damaged system can change the battle. A wounded crewman may force you to rethink the rest of the operation.

BUILD A CREW — AND A CAREER

Your crew are more than statistics.

Crewmen gain experience, develop skills and traits, suffer wounds, earn promotions, and receive medals and campaign ribbons. Surviving veterans carry their history from operation to operation.

Your commander develops as well, building a service record, reputation, skills, and standing over the course of the war.

But careers can end.

A destroyed tank or lost crewman has consequences, and those who do not return become part of your permanent service history and Memorial Wall.

LEARN YOUR ENEMY

You do not begin the war knowing everything about the vehicles you face.

The War Book intelligence system begins with unidentified contacts and incomplete information.

Repeated encounters gradually reveal:

  • Vehicle identity

  • Armor and technical information

  • Crew positions

  • Enemy behavior and doctrine

  • Tactical weaknesses

  • Useful combat intelligence

Knowledge persists across careers, allowing future commanders to benefit from what earlier crews discovered.

Fully studying an enemy can provide lasting tactical advantages against that vehicle.

CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE

Operations are fought across historical campaign maps with branching routes, combat nodes, support opportunities, and elite encounters.

Your decisions can affect:

  • Which battles you fight

  • What support becomes available

  • Your crew's condition

  • Research and equipment opportunities

  • Higher Command relationships

  • The risks you take before the final battle

Not every career follows the same path.

UPGRADE YOUR TANK

Earn Research Points, install modules, and progress through historically appropriate German vehicles as the war advances.

Improve your tank with equipment such as:

  • Optics

  • Field tools

  • Ammunition upgrades

  • Improved suspension

  • Radios

  • Smoke systems

Modules can be combined into increasingly valuable equipment, while research unlocks long-term improvements that carry into future careers.

ANSWER TO HIGHER COMMAND

Your actions build Higher Command Standing.

Commanders may issue requests, orders, and special assignments. Your reputation can open opportunities, alter rewards, and create unexpected encounters during a career.

Some command relationships and reputations can persist beyond a single commander, giving future careers new opportunities and different pressures.

A WAR THAT REMEMBERS

Tank Commander: Major FOE is built around persistence.

Your victories matter.

Your defeats matter.

Your crew's medals, wounds, promotions, and service history matter.

The enemies you study today may be easier to defeat years later because another crew survived long enough to learn from them.

And when a career ends, the next commander inherits more than a new tank.

They inherit what the men before them learned.

History fights back.

CURRENT EARLY ACCESS CONTENT
