You are sitting at an unfamiliar computer. A terminal, a browser, an inbox, a file manager and behind it an entire network that is waiting for someone to look inside. Scan it, break in, take whatever you find, and sell it. Nobody tells you where to start.

NULLSEC is not a game about a hacker. You get an operating system, a network and tools, what happens with them is up to you.

An Operating System, Not a Menu

NULL/OS is a complete desktop in the game: terminal, browser, mail program, file manager, editor, process and network view. No menu in front, no backdrop behind every window is a real, usable tool.

A Real Programming Language: nex

Your tools are not buttons, but scripts in the language nex with functions, closures, modules and error handling. Read them, change them, write your own. What you do by hand once, a script does for the entire network while you watch.

Ten Thousand Companies

A network of over ten thousand companies, each with its own website, its own servers, accounts and files, deterministically generated from a seed. The same seed, the same world. In addition, authorities that are tougher and more vigilant than any company.

Break In Your Way

Examine a computer, find open services and use the appropriate tool or log in with credentials that you found somewhere else. From there, keep going until root: through a found password or sloppy permission assignment.

Loot That Becomes Money

Take what is on a compromised computer employee lists, database credentials, customer databases and sell it on the black market. The money ends up in a real bank account that you continue working with.

Every Step Leaves a Trace

Whoever attracts attention wakes the house. Suspicion increases per computer and per company; above the threshold, networks are blocked and services are hardened, and you are thrown out. Delete your traces in the logs or bear the consequences.

A World That Is Connected

Your break-in is recorded, is in the newspaper in the morning, and on the same day the stock price of the affected company falls. Press, stock market and bank are one system: real accounts with IBAN, transfers, loans and account statements, a securities account, four newspapers with their own tone. None of it is just decoration.

The Game Remembers Nothing For You

No quest markers, no hand guiding you. What you want to know, you write down yourself. The network belongs to you as soon as you get access to it.

NULLSEC is a single-player sandbox. Fully in German and English, with adjustable font size and high contrast. Runs without internet.
