About This Game

About This Game

Living Recombination is a 2D pixel-art, top-down sandbox survival and base-building game.

A flesh-borne catastrophe has transformed the world. Explore ruins and anomalous regions, scavenge for resources, hunt grotesque flesh creatures, and survive the night as the threats around you continue to escalate.

Here, the most valuable thing a creature has is its own body.

Harvest Organs. Recombine Life.

Hunt creatures and harvest organs from their bodies, then transplant them into yourself or other living beings.

Each organ comes with its own attributes, rules, and triggered effects. Its position, surrounding organs, and the condition of the host body can all change how it functions.

Build for speed, damage, survivability, or construct an entire body around a specific combination of effects.

The creatures you kill will become part of your next evolution.

Grow a Living Base

Once you create a Living Core, it begins protecting the surrounding walls and causes different forms of fleshy growth to emerge across them as it levels up.

Using a flesh assembly station, you can customize your base like a living organism, attaching biological components with different forms and functions for gathering, storage, production, defense, and more.

As your base expands, a ruined shelter gradually transforms into a living fortress capable of growing and functioning on its own.

Connect Your Base With Vascular Networks

Living structures can be connected through networks of blood vessels.

Collectors can draw in nearby dropped items and send them through the vascular network into storage, while other living organs can transport nutrients and resources throughout the base.

Plan your vessels, connect specialized structures, and organize your logistics until tasks that once required your direct attention begin to run automatically.

Your base will become a vast living organism that never stops growing.

Prepare Before the Horde Arrives

Explore the world during the day, gather resources, and hunt for new organs and materials. Return to your base to strengthen your body, expand your defenses, and reorganize your logistics network.

When the horde arrives, every decision you made beforehand will be put to the test.

Your base layout, the combination of living structures, the efficiency of your vascular network, and the organs inside your own body will all determine whether you survive the next assault.

With every survival, you and your base become more like a strange new life-form growing at an unnatural pace.
