About This Software

Your media. Your server. Your screen.

Tater Tube Player is a modern, couch-friendly client for Tater Tube Server. Pair it with a simple code, settle in with a controller, and enjoy the movies, shows, and personal channels served from your own collection.

A Tater Tube Server is required and is not included. Tater Tube Player does not include movies, television shows, or live channels.

Made for the couch

Move naturally between Home, Library, Search, Tater Picks, and a full channel guide using a controller or Steam Deck controls. Resume a half-watched title, clear its progress, or begin again from the details screen.

Turn your collection into television

Watch the Tube TV channels configured on your server in a familiar guide. Your own station IDs, bumpers, break content, channel artwork, and schedule remain part of the experience.

Play the best version for the screen

The player reports its display, decoder, and audio capabilities to your server. Tater Tube Server can direct play compatible media, convert only the audio or video track that needs it, or create a fully compatible stream when required. HDR content is preserved when the playback path supports it and converted for SDR displays when it does not.

Everything good, right where you left it

Artwork-rich shelves make Continue Watching, Recently Added, movies, and television easy to browse. Viewing progress stays with your Tater Tube Server so another paired player can pick up from the same place.

Optional Tater Picks

When Tater Link is configured on your server, Tater can prepare a short collection of recommendations from titles already available in your library and explain why they fit your recent viewing. This feature is optional and only appears when configured.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI assisted with selected original visual assets used by Tater Tube Player, including mascot illustrations, fictional demo artwork, Discovery category art, and Tube TV channel logos. These assets were reviewed before inclusion and do not contain third-party movie or television artwork.
During use, the optional Tater Picks feature can generate short recommendation explanations and a synthesized voice briefing based on titles in the user’s own Tater Tube Server library and viewing history. Tater Picks requires the user to configure Tater Link separately, does not accept free-form prompts through the Player, and is hidden when not configured. It does not generate movies, television programs, music, or other playable media.
