What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“It is unprecedented experience in VR that create works just as you wanted.
We thought that we did not want to keep waiting people who demanded an unprecedented exciting experience.
In addition, we want to push forward further improvement by release of the full version with the feedback from early access players.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“We 're anticipating being in Early Access for approximately three months by plan.
depending on community feedback and how fans react to the releases and planned future content .”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We expand the function to become convenient in creating experience more.Auto UV wrapping for created voxel sculpt.Layer like photoshop in paint mode.Implement Loading other 3D model format.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can paint on 3D model texture using SteamVR controller. Change brush opacity or size with analog value of trigger. Open any 3D model you have(.obj). And open and save texture image file(.png). Move, rotate, and change scale of model as you want. Warp own position. Undo, redo and spoit function in paint mode. When save and load files, you can use basic explorer window like windows. You can play voxel sculpting in sculpt mode. Select five tools Add, Erase, Increase, Decrease, Smooth. Save and Load Voxel sculpt. Export sculpt to 3D model file(.obj).”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan on changing the Early Access price to reflect the content expansions with each update that brings us closer to full release . We want to be open and transparent with our community , and we'd like to incentivize our fans to buy in early , for the lowest possible price , and stay with us and share their experiences as we grow , and hopefully grow the community along with us !”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We 're planning setting of the user forum. Therefore we announce the road map of the new feature and we receive the request from user and want to incorporate it for development.”

Added "Add Vertices Tool"!

Update Ver0.8.3 Aug/13/2019

Added "Add Vertices Tool" to Artstage!

You can add vertices to any point in space.

You can consider modeling the model without being limited by face constraints.

Also, the edge display has become thicker, and the thickness can be changed from preferences. Until now, it was displayed with a fixed thickness of 1 pixel, but there was a problem that it became difficult to see as the HMD became higher resolution.

The thickness of the edges and the size of the vertices change according to the distance, and they are displayed with a natural perspective. This can be turned on and off from preferences.

Mirror side edges are now displayed for mirrored objects.

Added "Triangulate Faces" action. You can divide the selected faces into triangles.

Features
-"Add vertices tool" has been added to tools.
-Added "Triangulate Faces" action to face actions.
-The vertex display and edge display scale can be change in preferences.
-For vertex display and edge display, the option to scale according to the distance can be turned on / off in preferences.

Improvements
-Edge display has become thicker.
-Edges are now displayed on the mirror side of mirrored objects.
-In Move tool, Edges adjacent to the moving vertices are now highlighted in real time.

Changes
-Regarding the "Merge to below object" function, the below object was merged to the above object so far. but now, the above object merged to the below object. Maybe, that will be more intuitive.

Fixes
-When using the "Merge to below object" function, the smooth weight of the below object clear.
-When an edge extrude on an object that has been "mirror duplicated", the face is generated in the opposite side.
-Undo of “Unwrap and bake” cannot be performed normally.
-If the floor showing is off when the app starts, it will not be reflected even if it is turned on.

note: Features of early access are not stable. These may be changed or abolished.

Added Direct pointer mode!

Update Ver0.8.2 Jun/28/2019

Added Direct pointer mode to Artstage!

When Direct Pointer mode is enabled, you can paint by touching the model directly with the cursor without pulling a trigger when painting textures.

If the "Size with pressure" option is enabled, the brush size gets bigger as you pierce the cursor deeper into the model.

Also, in direct pointer mode, the UI can be operated with touch without trigger.

By changing the cursor direction to the bottom of the controller, you can paint with the controller holding like the pen.

Holding the controller like a pen makes precise paint strokes easy.

Also, it is now possible to hide currently selected faces during texture painting, or to show only currently selected faces.

You can hide faces that you want to mask or hide obstacle while painting.

We also fixed some texture paint issues that were found while implementing this feature.

In addition, an option to manually select the controller operation type has been added.

Artstage switched the operation method of the controller by identifying the type of HMD, but in the future we realized that there could be a combination of Vive HMD and Index controller, and Index HMD and Vive controller.

The user can manually select the controller type to select the operation type best suited to his environment.

You can select "Oculus Touch" or "Vive" in addition to "Default" which automatically identifies as before. Most VR controllers come with a touch pad or thumb stick, so it should be sufficient to use the Touch or Vive controls.

Users can also fine-tune button placement from the controller binding config of SteamVR.

For example, when playing Artstage from Oculus Quest using ALVR or VRidge, you should be able to perform the same operation as Oculus Rift by setting the controller type to "Touch".

Features
-Added direct pointer mode. It is enabled by turning on "Enable direct pointer mode" in Preferences.
-Added "Hide pointer ray in direct pointer mode" option to Preferences.
-It is now possible to hide the currently selected face or hide all but the currently selected face when painting textures. You can select from the tool config of the texture paint tool. You can use it to hide obstructed faces while painting or to mask faces that you do not want to paint.
-You can now manually select the controller type from Preferences. In the case of "Default", HMD is automatically detected as before. If it is "Oculus Touch" or "Vive", it will switch to each operation type forcibly. The controllers displayed on VR is also show as selected.
-You can now choose whether the eyedropper gets an alpha value in the tool config of the texture paint tool.

Improvements
-When painting textures, you can no longer paint on the reverse side.
-When painting textures, you can paint without hitting pointer ray to the model. (Normal pointer paint only) Makes it easier to fill the corner of the face.

Changes
-The eyedropper no longer gets an alpha value by default during texture painting.

Fixes
-The texture paint bleeds when hiding one of the adjacent UV islands.

note: Features of early access are not stable. These may be changed or abolished.
