What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Sarmatian Heroes combines turn-based strategy, tactical combat, hero progression and city building, and we want to develop these systems together with the community. Early Access will allow us to gather feedback on balance, AI, factions, city development and multiplayer while continuing to expand the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Sarmatian Heroes to remain in Early Access for approximately 6–12 months, but this may change depending on player feedback and the scope of improvements made during development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the full version with additional factions, units, heroes, maps, scenarios, city-building options, improved AI, balance improvements and additional multiplayer features. We also plan to continue improving the user interface, accessibility and overall game polish based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is planned to include the core strategic map, hero progression, army management, city building, resource management and tactical turn-based battles. Players will be able to play single-player games as well as local multiplayer modes. The game will continue to receive additional content, balancing and improvements throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect the price to increase when the game leaves Early Access as additional content and features are added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to actively collect player feedback through the Steam Community, reviews and discussions. Feedback will help us prioritize balance changes, usability improvements, AI development, new content and refinements to existing systems.”

About This Game

Sarmatian Heroes is a turn-based strategy RPG where you explore a vast world, command armies, develop heroes, build fortified cities, and fight tactical battles on hex-based battlefields.

Inspired by classic strategy games, Sarmatian Heroes combines world exploration, army management and character progression with a deeper city-building system. Your settlements are not just menus - you build them directly on the map, place structures and defensive walls, develop their economy, and later defend the very cities you created during battles and sieges.

EXPLORE AND CONQUER

Travel across a colorful strategic world filled with settlements, resources, mines, roads, ruins and enemy armies.

Choose where to expand, which locations to capture and how to develop your faction. Every campaign can unfold differently depending on your decisions, expansion and conflicts.

COMMAND YOUR HEROES

Recruit and develop heroes with different abilities and roles.

Lead armies across the world, improve your heroes, unlock new capabilities and adapt your strategy to the faction and forces under your command.

BUILD REAL CITIES

Cities are physical locations, not static upgrade screens.

Construct buildings directly inside your settlements, develop production and economy, build defensive walls and shape the layout of your city.

When an enemy attacks, the city you built becomes the battlefield.

FIGHT TACTICAL TURN-BASED BATTLES

Battles take place on hex-based maps where positioning matters.

Use terrain, formations, ranged units, cavalry, fortifications and individual unit abilities to defeat larger or better-equipped armies.

Different damage types, movement characteristics and battlefield abilities make units useful in different situations rather than simply replacing weaker troops with stronger ones.

LEAD DISTINCT FACTIONS

Command civilizations inspired by real peoples and military traditions, including the Sarmatian Tribes, Roman Empire, Hellenic States and Pictish Clans.

Each faction has its own units, strengths, development paths and approach to warfare.

History is only the beginning. As your civilization advances, you can encounter military ideas and units from different periods, creating an alternate historical world shaped by the player's choices.

CREATE YOUR OWN HISTORY

The game records your actions as an evolving timeline.

Return to earlier moments and create alternative branches of your campaign, exploring what might have happened if you had made a different decision.

One campaign can become many different histories.

PLAY YOUR WAY

Play alone against AI or share a campaign locally with other players.

Sarmatian Heroes supports turn-based local multiplayer and cooperative play, making it possible to build alliances, compete for territory or wage war from the same computer.

BUILD. EXPLORE. FIGHT. CHANGE HISTORY.

Raise cities. Lead heroes. Command armies.

And create a world that could never have existed.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:
