About This Demo

Britain collapsed about a year ago. Waterloo is dark, and the only people left in it are the ones who made it onto one train. You're running that train. This free demo covers the opening of the campaign: decide who keeps a place aboard, stock the cargo space, hire the crew, and then take the line north through the Home Counties, station by station, as far as the demo's boundary. The rest of the run, all the way to the place survivors call Haven, is in the full game.

The train is more than transport. Once you leave Waterloo it's the only institution its passengers have. Every stop asks what the dead left behind, who your search parties find, what risks you accept, and what kind of authority you become by keeping the route alive.

What's in the Demo

  • The whole opening loop: choosing who boards at Waterloo, scavenging the dead stations after it, infection spreading along the line, and narrative events with lasting consequences, exactly as they play in the full game.

  • Waterloo and the Home Counties on the real UK rail network. Same rail data, same systems, a shorter route.

  • A record of what your train became, right up to where the demo stops.

What's Only in the Full Game

  • Everything north of the demo's boundary, the whole way to Haven.

  • The later acts of the campaign, the stations along them, and the events, side quests and character arcs tied to them.

  • Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud saves.

A demo save does not carry over into the full game. Starting the full game begins its own run from Waterloo.

Route Across a Real Rail Network

The map uses OpenStreetMap railway data, the same as the full game. Its stations, connections and routes follow the real UK network rather than an invented game map. Discover neighbouring stations, commit to multi-stop journeys, and change course as infection, failed points, damaged track, barricades and flooding alter the risk of travelling north.
