About the game!

PSyChE DiVE is a 2D shoot ‘em up game where the story is told between levels in a Visual Novel format!

(Though, if you only want to play the shmup part, you can do it through the “Arcade” option!)

You play as Caroline, she is a psychologist that helps her patients through meditation. …How that work?

Well, thanks to her meditative powers, she can project herself and enter people’s minds. This way she can go directly to the person’s mind and help them in a more direct way, but the path to reach the mind can be a dangerous one, it depends how severe the mental illness of the patient is!

And that’s her job, normally goes with no trouble, but one day while meditating she meets a strange “person”. After that encounter, it limits Caroline’s power, making her job harder… Now she is wondering how to get her powers back while she keeps helping people!

(I’m still working on this, the description will change when I have a more complete game!)

This game will have:

• 5 different levels

• Achievements

• Available in English and Spanish (Hopefully one day I'll be able to add Japanese to the list!)

• (And more stuff I won’t put until I can really make sure those will be in the game haha! I'll put a monthly post to show the progress of the game. :) )

Gameplay

One thing that makes this game a little different is the bomb, in this game it repels bullets and after the bombs run out, it explodes making all bullets disappear!

(The idea came from the theme of “Shrink”, as shrinking away the bullets, also the reason Caroline is a psychologist.)

When the rest of the mechanics are done, I’ll expand this more! For now a clip of the 1st boss :D

Story

If you pick to play the “Story” option, before and after each level, there will be a part of the story, it will tell how Caroline gets it power restricted and how she will manage to recover it while going through 4 “challenges”, each one harder (and mentally ill) than the last one!

(I put 2 clips of how it can look, the story will be changed so those 2 clips don't show the final text!)

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game story mention suicide, improper use of medications, hopelessness, depression, murder attempt, idealization of murdering, implication of impale, and red blood. If you are not ok with any of those topics, I don’t recommend getting this game!

(While some of the latter topics aren’t very graphical or detailed and some topics are only mentioned at some point, keep in mind that this game isn’t suitable for everyone.)
