About This Game

Automate a Baby’s First Year

CRADLE PLANT: First Year Operations is a factory automation simulation where you care for babies from birth to their first birthday.

In the near future, dual-income households have become the norm, making it increasingly difficult for families to handle the most demanding first year of childcare on their own.

To meet that need, the “Cradle Plant” was created—a facility that automates feeding, sleep, hygiene, and healthcare, caring for babies while their parents work.

Your job is not to care for each baby by hand.

Your job is to design a system that keeps providing the right care—even when you are no longer directly involved.

Let the Factory Make the Decisions

At first, you will check each crying baby yourself.

Are they hungry? Tired? In need of hygiene care?

Send them to the right equipment and solve each problem one at a time.

But as more babies arrive, manual care can no longer keep up.

Introduce sensors, routing gates, and care arms, and gradually move the entire process of

“Observe → Decide → Transport”

onto the production line itself.

Hungry? Send them to a feeding station.
Tired? Send them to a bed.
Sick? Send them to a treatment station.

Turn the decisions you once made over and over again into a system the factory can handle for you.

The Same Care Doesn’t Work for Everyone

Every baby responds differently.

Some sleep better in quiet places.
Some settle down when others are nearby.
Some enjoy rocking. Others prefer moving around on their own.
Some respond to music. Others relax when they are held or touched.

At first, the same line may seem to work perfectly well for everyone. But as the babies grow, their differences gradually become more apparent.

Once you notice what makes one baby different, you do not have to keep caring for that baby manually.

Turn what you have learned into equipment and routing rules.

Automate the solution once you find it, and let the factory handle it from then on.

Standardized care for many babies, and individualized care for each one.
Design a line that can provide both.

Grow a Small Care Line into a Large-Scale Facility

Babies grow while they are in your facility, and the care they need changes with them.

As they move beyond the stage of frequent feeding and long hours of sleep, they spend more time awake and begin to need play, stimulation, weaning, and preparation for illness.

And as your facility becomes more stable, you will be expected to care for more and more babies.

But this factory has one constraint that ordinary production lines do not:

No matter how efficient your factory becomes, you cannot make a baby reach their first birthday any faster.

So the goal is not to “finish” one baby as quickly as possible.

The real challenge is how many babies you can keep raising safely and reliably at the same time.

Start with a small care line and expand it into a large-scale Cradle Plant capable of supporting babies throughout their entire first year.
