About This Game

Welcome to your new job You arrived at the office expecting a normal job answering emails, but you quickly discover how the team actually survives the daily grind. Helping customers is secondary; the real challenge is the underground game your coworkers play every single day.

The daily challenge Every shift, the staff picks a specific word. Your goal is to write tech support emails that solve the customer's problem, but you must weave that secret word into your reply as naturally and seamlessly as possible.

Beware of the Quality Department The system is watching you. If the word feels forced, doesn't fit the context, or sounds like you are mocking the customer, the Quality department will flag your evaluation and fail you. You will have to rack your brain to camouflage absurd concepts inside the most formal corporate apologies.

The in-game Quality Control reviewer is powered by a small language model that runs
locally on your own computer. When you send a reply, it reads what you wrote and
answers a fixed set of questions about it, which the game turns into your score.

Every sentence the reviewer says back to you was written by hand. The model itself
never writes any text that you see.

No internet connection is required, and nothing you type is ever sent anywhere.

Empty Inbox is an office comedy. All of its mature content is in written dialogue.
There is no violence, no nudity, and no sexual scenes of any kind.

Some characters use crude sexual language and innuendo, and make prejudiced remarks
about their coworkers' weight, gender and personal beliefs. They are written as
unpleasant people, and the game does not present their behaviour as admirable.

Two story threads deal with gambling addiction and with depression. Neither is
depicted on screen; both are handled entirely through conversation. There is no
self-harm, and no drug or alcohol use.
