What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ShardStriders is a game about combinations, and combinations are exactly what two people cannot test on their own. Every run mixes skills, items, relics and artifacts across a party of up to six, and the number of ways that can go is far beyond anything we can play through ourselves. We want the balance shaped by players finding things we did not plan for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly a year. We would rather leave Early Access late and finished than on time and half-tuned — if the estimate changes, we will update this box instead of quietly letting it slide.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More Shards, more Keepers and more to build with — but the main goal is depth, not length: sharper balance, more build paths, and Shards that feel genuinely different from one another rather than just harder.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full loop is in: solo or online co-op for up to six players, 15–30 minute runs, boss fights, random skills with upgrades, talents, loot with affixes, enchanting, relics, artifacts, synergies, a shared stash and progression between runs. The number of Shards and Keepers will keep growing throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes — the price will go up when we leave Early Access. Buying in early is the discount.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are two people, and every build so far has been shaped by watching friends play it. Our Discord and the Steam forums are where that continues — balance complaints, build screenshots and "this is broken, please don't fix it" are all useful to us.”

About This Game

Every Shard lives by its own rules, and every one of them wants you dead. Waves get meaner, the rules change mid-fight, and somewhere deep inside a Keeper is waiting. Go where it would be smarter to turn back. A run takes 15–30 minutes: grab everything you can carry. Lose, and you start over. Win, and you start over too — just stronger.

There are no classes. Skills come to you mid-fight, and every pick shapes who walks out of the run. Stack synergies, swap weapons, collect artifacts and relics. Want to stand in the middle of the crowd? Stand there. Want to shoot everyone from a distance? Go ahead. Whether any of it works, the Shard will let you know.

Hundreds of weapons and armor pieces, each with a character of its own: affixes, properties, rarity. Loot it, enchant it, buy it from the merchant. Keep the best, sell the rest or share it with your companions.

Head into the Shards alone or bring a party of up to six. One holds the crowd, another hoses it down from range, a third has run ahead again and is already on the floor. The more of you show up, the harder the Shard hits back, so watching each other's backs actually matters. Pick up the fallen, pull your friends out of the crowd, share the loot. Or don't.

Prystal was once a single living crystal. Then the Sunderer reached its heart, and the world burst into Shards — each with its own land, its own laws and its own Keeper. The Keepers are not gods, and they do not serve the Sunderer. They just happened to be close when the power broke loose, and now they will not give it up willingly. Only the First Shard survived. Bring the Shards back one by one, grow the Core, and one day the road will lead you to the one who started it all.
