About This Game

Build the battle. Take the helm.

Fleets of Calder is a single-player space combat game where you design the battle and then can fight inside it. Deploy fighter wings, bomber formations, capital ships and carriers, choose your own ship, and launch. Fight at the helm or open the tactical overview to direct your fleet with rich commander options.

The Calder cluster holds 1,600 contested worlds. The Astronauts and Cosmonauts bring opposing fleets to the same frontier. Their battles are yours to arrange.

Your deployment, your decisions

Drag complete wings onto the battle map, adjust their formations and positions, and choose a ship to pilot from either side. Set patrol routes, starting damage and replacement reserves. Save an operation, fly it, then return to the builder to try another plan.

Start with one of 41 editable operations, jump into a ready 28-ship Quick Battle, or generate a Random Battle with your chosen type and size. Every authored operation is available from the start.

Fly one ship. Command the battle.

Take direct control of fighters, bombers, capital ships or carriers. Send your wings to attack, cover your ship, regroup or rearm while you keep flying.

Open the tactical overview to pause, select groups and issue attack, guard or movement orders. Resume the action from above or return to the helm. Seven command categories offer 28 orders for fighter screens, bomber strikes, capital lines, carrier operations and fleet recovery.

Warships break apart and keep fighting

The shared fleet includes 25 small-craft classes, eight capital classes, three carriers and two stations. Heavy ships have individual structural compartments and working systems. Damage can disable engines, weaken shields, restrict flight decks or tear an armed section from its hull.

Detached sections can continue firing with their surviving weapons and ammunition. Dock at friendly facilities to repair surviving systems and replenish supplies; lost sections stay lost.

Make every reserve count

Both sides fight with finite fighter and capital replacement pools. Destroying the opening fleet is only part of the job: exhaust its remaining ships and reserves to win.

Build, fly, revise and replay your battles with keyboard and mouse or a gamepad, accompanied by eight original electronic tracks.
