About This Game

Live on, Until we can’t.

When a child is born, the tribe gains a future—and another mouth to feed. When an elder passes away, the skills and titles they acquired fade with them, but their name remains in the chronicle, and the traits inherited from their parents take root anew in the next generation.

That is how a tribe grows stronger. And the stronger it grows, the more life it must carry.

Live on, Until we can’t is a turn-based tribal survival rogue-lite where the lives and choices of your people become the history of a tribe. No one knows how long it can endure. Find the way that lets your tribe prepare for one more season.

Assign Your People. Keep the Tribe Alive.

Before a turn passes, place tribe members in buildings. Decide whether the tribe needs Food and Water, Material for what lies ahead, or room for someone to teach its children. Moving even one person can change the tribe’s next turn.

  • Match each person’s strengths to what the tribe needs

  • Balance the production and consumption of Food, Water, Material, and Herb

  • Build new places for work and growth

  • Choose the resources needed to support a larger tribe and its buildings

You can reconsider an assignment before you decide. Once time passes, the tribe lives with the result.

Turn Unexpected Events into Choices

Someone may be hurt at work. Illness may spread. Good harvests and poor ones may come. Marriage, birth, death, and succession follow in their wake. Events take different forms depending on the tribe’s state and the life of the person involved.

The system presents the people, the candidates, and the paths before you. You give the tribe its answer: take a risk for a greater chance, choose safety and lose less, or decide what must be kept for the tribe that exists now.

  • Accept or refuse a marriage and shape the tribe’s bloodline

  • Choose the traits a child keeps and those it must leave behind

  • Place an adolescent in an apprenticeship or send them to a school

  • Save Herb for later or use it when a crisis comes

  • Choose the next chief from candidates with different strengths

Crafts carried forward become the tribe’s roots. Personal accomplishments become feats remembered by all.

The Name of a Long-Lived Tribe Remains

More people bring more possibilities, but opportunities to grow and places to work become scarce. When Food and Water stop flowing, the tribe is in danger, and the skills and titles of those who have gone do not return.

Still, the seasons the tribe lived through, the generations it carried forward, and the names it protected remain in its chronicle.

No one knows how long a tribe can endure.

Live on. Until it can live no longer.
