About This Game

A New Flag in 1945

Spring, 1945. Your republic has a flag, a handful of facilities and nowhere near enough trained people for its ambitions. Washington or Moscow will recognize you. Neither is doing it for free.

Third Bloc is a text-based political management sandbox played through reports, budgets, personnel files and telegrams. You do not drag armies across a map. You run the state behind the machines: recruiting experts, funding infrastructure, handling foreign demands and choosing one national project at the end of each turn.

Every construction attempt, launch, landing and weapons test plays out in detailed animated ASCII.

Build the Country First

Your budget covers recruitment, salaries, infrastructure, laws and the favors demanded abroad. Staff assigned to a permanent facility are unavailable for the next national project. Time is just as tight: you get one project slot per turn.

Build an observatory now and the factory waits. Chase a launch and the power grid waits. Success leaves a working facility behind. Failure can take trained staff and a season you never get back.

The World Writes Back

The State Telegraph Office is where old decisions return with a date stamp. Defectors ask for asylum. Ministries report accidents. Remote officials forward problems they would rather not own. News, decisions and delayed follow-ups all share the queue, and a reply can arrive years later quoting a choice you barely remember making.

Washington and Moscow do not offer friendship. They offer aid with paperwork attached. Accept a demand, refuse it, stall, ask for your own concessions, switch sides or break with your patron and court non-aligned states. If you can afford independence, you can eventually found a bloc of your own.

There Is No Neat Tech Tree to Mars

Pick a destination, then decide what you are ready to attempt: probe it, enter orbit, land, send a crew or settle. Different destinations allow different missions. Earlier flights make the next one less reckless, but never safe.

Space is not a separate minigame. It uses the same experts and the same project slot your economy and nuclear program need. The Moon is close. Mars is not. Jupiter does not care how stirring your speeches are. While you prepare, the United States and Soviet Union keep moving.

Build the Bomb. Live With the Button.

The nuclear program is a five-stage chain that eats turns and ties up your best staff. Each breakthrough changes the demands and warnings arriving from abroad. Finish the delivery system and a command appears that did not exist before.

Use it and there is no combat minigame, no damage spreadsheet and no second launch. There is an order, a target and an ending.

No Victory Screen. Just the Record.

Third Bloc has no universal win condition. Reach 1990 and the final report tells you what you built, who you depended on, whether you escaped them and how far beyond Earth your people reached. Bankruptcy ends the experiment early. A launch order can end it much faster.
