Enter the untamed world of Bootstrap Island through its original soundtrack - a blend of raw, primal sounds, exotic instruments, and haunting melodies. The music captures the mystery, danger, and beauty of the island, while also reflecting Daniel’s longing for his homeland and family.

Bootstrap Island’s Original Soundtrack features 21 tracks, including a special bonus track that has never been heard in the game before. The orginal soundtrack is composed by Estonian composer Liina Sumera.

Bootstrap Island is more than just a survival roguelike game - there is also a deeper story beneath the surface, and that was something that particularly inspired me as a composer.

One of the biggest challenges was finding the right musical language for the game. Whenever I wrote something more melodic or orchestral, it somehow created a feeling that was too safe and civilized - exactly what I wanted to avoid.

Bootstrap Island is the opposite: wild and harsh, full of secrets, but also incredibly beautiful. Most importantly, it is completely cut off from the rest of the world.

With this in mind, I started with more primitive musical elements. I tried to imagine what kinds of instruments indigenous peoples might have used at the time, or what could have been made by hand from materials found in nature. Since the game takes place on a fictional island where influences from different cultures come together, I also had more freedom when it came to choosing the instruments.

Luckily, I already had a few primitive-sounding instruments at home: an ocarina, a large animal horn, a shamanic drum, all sorts of flutes, and, of course, my own voice. These raw and primal sounds became the foundation of the entire soundtrack.

Daniel’s main theme, however, is deeply rooted in his longing for his homeland and family, expressed through the sound of a string quartet.
