What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Last Anchor is built around interconnected systems—weather, altitude, expedition planning, climbing, survival, terrain, and logistics—and those systems benefit enormously from real player feedback. Early Access allows us to develop the mountain alongside the community, identify what feels authentic and compelling, and expand the game based on how people actually approach their expeditions.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect The Last Anchor to remain in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months. This may change depending on development progress, player feedback, and the scope of features we decide are worth pursuing.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the depth, variety, and polish of nearly every part of the expedition. This includes richer mountain environments, additional climbing and traversal mechanics, deeper expedition logistics, more equipment, improved weather and altitude simulation, expanded NPC and settlement interactions, additional environmental hazards, improved animation and presentation, and significantly more overall polish. Our goal is for the full version to provide a deeper and more complete mountaineering experience from the first steps of an expedition to the summit and descent.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version provides the core The Last Anchor experience: exploring a large Himalayan-inspired mountain environment, trekking and climbing across changing terrain, managing survival needs and equipment, dealing with altitude and weather, following or choosing routes, and progressing from lower valleys toward extreme high-altitude environments. Many systems are functional but are still actively being expanded, balanced, visually improved, and polished. Players should expect an evolving game rather than a finished experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to offer The Last Anchor at a lower price during Early Access and may increase the price as substantial new content, systems, and polish are added. Any pricing changes will reflect the state and scope of the game at that time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be a major part of development. We plan to use Steam discussions, player reports, reviews, and direct feedback to understand what works, what does not, and which systems deserve greater depth. We are especially interested in feedback on climbing, expedition planning, survival balance, realism, world design, difficulty, and the overall feeling of being on a major mountain expedition. Updates will evolve alongside that feedback.”

About This Game

The Last Anchor

The mountain does not care if you are ready.

The Last Anchor is an immersive Himalayan mountaineering survival game about preparing, climbing, and surviving an expedition from the valleys below to the highest reaches of the mountain.

Your journey begins far beneath the summit. Trek through villages and forests, organize supplies, hire support, establish camps, watch the weather, and slowly push your expedition higher.

Every decision matters once turning around becomes harder than continuing.

BUILD YOUR EXPEDITION

A successful climb starts long before the summit.

Manage:

  • Food, fuel, clothing, climbing equipment and oxygen

  • Porters and expedition logistics

  • Camps and supply caches

  • Fixed ropes, ladders and anchors

  • Acclimatization and recovery

  • Weather windows and departure times

Carry too much and you move slowly. Carry too little and you may discover the mistake thousands of meters above safety.

CLIMB YOUR OWN WAY

There is no glowing path to the summit.

Read the terrain and choose how to move through it.

Cross rocky valleys, glaciers, steep snow, exposed ridges, crevasses and technical climbing sections while deciding where to rest, where to establish camps and when conditions are too dangerous to continue.

The mountain itself is the challenge.

SURVIVE THE ALTITUDE

Cold is only one part of the problem.

Your expedition is affected by:

  • Temperature

  • Wind

  • Weather

  • Hunger and hydration

  • Exhaustion

  • Wet clothing

  • Altitude

  • Acclimatization

  • Remaining daylight

  • Equipment and supplies

Conditions change as you climb, and small problems at low altitude can become life-threatening higher on the mountain.

A LIVING HIMALAYAN WORLD

Travel from lush mountain valleys into an increasingly extreme alpine environment.

Forests and villages slowly disappear.

Grass becomes rock.

Rock becomes snow.

Snow becomes ice.

Eventually there is almost nothing left except the mountain, the weather, and your expedition.

Dynamic lighting, changing weather, wind, snowfall, clouds and altitude-dependent environments make the journey feel different every time you move higher.

THE SUMMIT IS ONLY HALF THE JOURNEY

Reaching the top does not end the expedition.

You still have to get back down.

Supplies are depleted. Weather can deteriorate. Your character is exhausted. Darkness may be approaching.

Some of the most dangerous decisions happen after the summit is already behind you.

Plan carefully. Climb patiently. Know when to turn around.

Then try to stand on top of the world.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i3-6100 / AMD FX-6300
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Vulkan 1.0-compatible GPU with 2 GB VRAM — NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 550 / Intel UHD 620 (latest drivers)
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 500 MB available space
    • Sound Card: Any (integrated / DirectX-compatible)
    • Additional Notes: Renders with Vulkan; Direct3D 12 is used automatically as a fallback. Procedural world generation runs at launch — first load is longer on slower CPUs.
    Recommended:
    • OS: Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Vulkan 1.2-compatible GPU with 4 GB VRAM — NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 580
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 1 GB available space
    • Sound Card: Any
    • Additional Notes: A dedicated GPU is recommended for high-resolution shadows and MSAA at 1080p+; a multi-core CPU shortens world generation.
