Three civilisations, three worlds, one abandoned human experiment. Command the desert Tali and their living planetary web, the Nerros and their steam-driven exosuits, or the Phobarian hive and its bred swarms in a fully 3D real-time strategy game built on asymmetry, not reskins.

About This Game

ABOUT THIS GAME

Alpha Draconis is a real-time strategy game with RPG-inspired heroes, set on a distant alien world where three radically different civilizations fight for survival.

Build your economy, establish your base, command armies, research new technologies, recruit powerful heroes and fight for control of a hostile world. Every faction plays by fundamentally different rules, from dinosaurian nomads who wield mystical forces to a hive civilization that reshapes life itself, and an industrial society that survives through steam-powered machines and domesticated beasts.

THREE FACTIONS. THREE WAYS TO PLAY.

THE TALI — MYSTIC NOMADS
The Tali are descendants of dinosaurian life, shaped by generations of adaptation and guided by ancient traditions.

They are nomadic hunters, shamans and beast tamers who combine primitive weapons with powerful mystical abilities. Their armies fight alongside the creatures of their world, while Geopriests manipulate the land and draw upon its hidden energies.

Tali armies emphasize mobility, beasts, battlefield magic, terrain manipulation and powerful heroes.

Their unique Blood resource is generated through combat and ritual. Two warriors can enter the Circle of Blood and fight to the death, while victories and losses on the battlefield contribute to the power required for advanced units, structures and research.

THE PHOBARIAN — THE HIVE
The Phobarians are an ancient arthropod civilization that has transformed biology into technology.

They do not use magic. Instead, they rely on bioengineering, biological weapons and a powerful hive mind to coordinate their forces. Individual organisms are expendable; the survival and expansion of the hive is what matters.

Grow your colony, cultivate living structures, breed specialized organisms and adapt your forces to the battlefield. Phobarian armies can employ swarms, toxins, engineered creatures and powerful crystal-energy weapons.

Their unique Amino Acid resource is harvested from larval pods by specialized organisms and is used to create advanced lifeforms, structures and abilities.

THE NERROS — MASTERS OF STEAM
The Nerros live on a frozen world where survival depends on steel, steam and domesticated beasts.

Wrapped in mechanical exoskeletons and supported by steam-powered machinery, the Nerros bring a rugged industrial arsenal to the battlefield. Their armies combine heavily armored soldiers, mechanical war machines, artillery and enormous beasts adapted to the frozen wastes.

Nerros technology is powerful but demanding. Their machines require a functioning steam infrastructure to operate efficiently.

Mechanical units also use a separate armor system. Armor absorbs incoming damage before the unit's health is affected, but damaged armor must be restored through a vulnerable maintenance process. Pull your machines out of combat, restore their armor and send them back into the fight—or risk losing them permanently.

COMMAND HEROES, NOT JUST ARMIES

Your most important warriors are your heroes.

Heroes gain experience through combat and develop throughout a game using RPG-inspired progression. Each hero has a distinctive role, abilities and playstyle rather than simply being a stronger version of an ordinary unit.

A Tali shaman might reshape the battlefield with mystical powers. A Phobarian commander can manipulate the hive and create new organisms. A Nerros engineer can support mechanical forces and keep war machines functioning.

Protect your heroes, choose when to commit them and use their abilities to turn battles in your favor.

AN RTS WHERE THE FACTIONS ACTUALLY FEEL DIFFERENT

Alpha Draconis is designed around asymmetric factions rather than giving every civilization the same economy and unit structure with different artwork.

Each faction has its own:

  • Resource system
  • Army composition
  • Technology and research
  • Heroes and abilities
  • Production methods
  • Strengths and weaknesses
  • Approach to terrain and the environment
Food is a shared necessity, but the civilizations obtain it in very different ways. The Tali hunt and use mystical wells, the Phobarians eventually cultivate biological food sources, and the Nerros domesticate wildlife for a steady supply.

Their second major resource is equally distinct: the Tali draw Leyline Energy from stone, the Phobarians extract Silicon, and the Nerros smelt Iron.

Their third resources define their civilizations even further: Blood for the Tali, Amino Acid for the Phobarians and Steam for the Nerros.

FIGHT ACROSS AN ALIEN WORLD

The battlefield is more than a backdrop.

Explore deserts, jungles, frozen landscapes and other hostile environments. Hunt neutral wildlife, secure valuable resource deposits, establish strategic positions and use the characteristics of the terrain to your advantage.

BUILD, RESEARCH AND ADAPT

Develop your civilization from a small settlement into a powerful war machine.

Gather resources and expand your infrastructure. Construct faction-specific buildings. Unlock new units and technologies. Develop your heroes. Build an army capable of dealing with the forces your opponent brings to the battlefield.

There is no single universal army composition. Success depends on understanding your faction's economy, exploiting its unique mechanics and adapting your strategy to the battlefield.

THE WORLD OF ALPHA DRACONIS

Humanity once reached beyond its own solar system. The Alpha Draconis system contains worlds that have been shaped by an experiment whose consequences have long outlived its creators.

The civilizations that now inhabit these worlds have evolved along radically different paths.

The Tali embraced tradition, mysticism and their relationship with the creatures and forces of their world.

The Phobarians turned biology into an industrial process, creating a civilization in which the distinction between organism, weapon and machine has almost disappeared.

The Nerros endured an unforgiving frozen world by developing mechanical exoskeletons, steam technology and a culture built around survival.

Now these civilizations collide.

The future of Alpha Draconis will be decided on the battlefield.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

For 25 years, we dreamed of making this game together. Alpha Draconis's lore, world, creatures, and factions were all created long before generative AI existed. What we lacked was the time and resources to build it. Generative AI changed that: by using it to help write code and create 3D assets, we were finally able to speed up development enough to turn Alpha Draconis into a real, playable game.
