The frontier will not defend itself.

Beyond the walls of Carthago, the road stretches towards provinces you have never seen. You are Aurelius, an ordinary soldier with a home to return to and a frontier to hold.

Porta Westfalica is a tower defence game set on the borders of the Roman Empire. Build your defences along the road and decide who each tower goes after.

• Choose who each tower shoots first: the enemy in front, the strongest or the fastest

• Build and upgrade your defences along the enemy's road

• Protect your towers from Javelin Skirmishers, who stop to attack your defences instead of marching past

• Check what the next wave is bringing, then repair, upgrade or sell before it arrives

Mix five kinds of Roman defences, each with its own role, and get them working together.

• Raise archer towers, javelin platforms and Onager catapults

• Station legionaries to hold the road and send cavalry after anything that slips through

• Give your best towers a specialisation, like fire or poison arrows for your archers

• Break up shield walls and siege columns, and call down Arrow Rain when the line needs help

Serve across seven regions of the frontier. Each one looks different and plays differently. 

• March from the sands of Carthago to the snowy Alpine passes and the forests of Inner Germania

• Slow enemies in the quicksand of Carthago and watch for raiders hidden in the sandstorms

• Keep the gates of Britannia Limes from being breached

• Defeat a boss in every region, from the Carthaginian War Chief to the Gatebreaker of Westfalica
