What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Conehead: Earth Zero is a physics-based, co-op multiplayer survival game. Since I am developing this game entirely as a solo developer, community feedback is absolutely essential to perfect the core experience, which relies heavily on unpredictable player interactions, peer-to-peer listen-server network synchronization, and chaotic physics. Early Access allows me to test listen-server stability where players host their own games, balance the economy, and fine-tune the difficulty of the alien ecosystem alongside real players before the final release”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to keep the game in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. However, as a solo developer, this timeline might change based on community feedback and the scope of new features I decide to add during development. My primary goal is to ensure the game is fully polished and incredibly fun, rather than rushing to meet a strict deadline.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While the Early Access version will contain the core gameplay loop, the full version is planned to expand the universe significantly. I aim to add new diverse biomes (such as vertical cities or underground caves), new variations of alien flora and fauna, additional items to purchase from the Biomechanical Vendor, and expanded vehicle mechanics. I also plan to heavily polish the animations, UI, and overall network optimization.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the game is in active development. As a solo developer, I have successfully built the core systems within the engine, including the peer-to-peer listen-server co-op architecture, the drivable Armored APC, the physical inventory system, and the Biomechanical Vendor mechanics. While there is no public playable build right now, I am working hard to release the first playable demo one week before the Steam Next Fest in October. When the game officially launches into Early Access, all these core features will be fully playable and ready for co-op sessions.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I plan to offer the game at a lower price during Early Access to reward the early adopters who believe in my project and help me shape the game. The price will likely increase moderately upon the full release as I add more content, biomes, and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is the absolute backbone of this project. As a solo developer, I will actively monitor the Steam Discussion boards to gather feedback, read bug reports, and communicate directly with players. I want to hear your thoughts on difficulty balancing, vehicle handling, item pricing, and encounter rates. I will release regular updates and patch notes, directly addressing community requests so we can make this game better together.”

About This Game

Conehead: Earth Zero drops you and your friends into the heart of a dangerous and unpredictable ecosystem. Your mission is simple: explore the world, gather scrap, fill the shared stash, and exceed the company's quota. But nothing is easy on this planet; exhausted meteors silently crashing down to create massive craters, mutated locals, and mind-bending flora are constantly after you.

THE BIOMECHANICAL VENDOR

Trade with the colossal Biomechanical Vendor to manage your shared stash.

Call with Your Voice: Walk up to the megaphones and speak (or yell) into your microphone. Once you exceed the voice limit, you physically summon the vendor to your location.

Sell Your Scrap: Fill the vendor's massive bag with the scrap you've collected and press the button to confirm the sale. The bag closes, the vendor takes the scrap, and instantly transfers the money to your shared stash.

Physical Delivery: No menus are used when buying items either. When you confirm your order via the screens on the display cases, the vendor drops a huge bag on the ground, the lid opens like a ramp, and your purchased items physically appear inside.

Trolls are unforgivable ("Penalty Roulette"): Players who press the CONFIRM button with an empty basket instead of selecting items when calling the vendor will pay a heavy price. The vendor will become enraged, catch the troll, and throw it like a rag doll to a random, lethal spot across the map!

When selling metal, if you don't put the scrap metal you want to sell into the scrap metal bag, the vendor will punish everyone!

A DEADLY AND REACTIVE ECOSYSTEM

Toxic Plants & Spores: Toxic eggs swell and explode as you approach, leaving you in a cloud of acid. If you are exposed to the floating neon spores of the Lumen Mushrooms, you will hallucinate for few seconds, your skeleton will contort, and you will lose your balance in a "Drunk Walk".
