What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Three Kingdoms Born is a character-driven strategy game built around a clear core: you rule like a lord and command battles like a manager, not a micromanager. That core is already built and fully playable. We are entering Early Access to refine the complete experience alongside players and grow the game together. As a solo developer, we want feedback on long-term balance (officers, unit matchups, operations, and advisor schemes), AI decision-making, campaign pacing from early to late game, UI clarity, localization quality across five languages, and which additional warlords and scenarios players most want to see next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently plan for Early Access to last roughly 6 to 12 months. The exact timing may change depending on player feedback, system stability, balance needs, and which improvements prove most important after release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to be a broader, better balanced, and more polished version of the same core game. Early Access launches with Sun Ce's conquest fully playable. On the road to full release, we plan to open up seven additional playable warlords—Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, Liu Biao, Ma Teng, and Gongsun Zan—each with their own starting positions and campaigns, alongside expanded scenario and event content. We also plan to continuously refine combat balance, AI behavior, campaign pacing, UI guidance, and localization.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version supports a full campaign as Sun Ce, the young conqueror of Jiangdong, leading his faction from his initial rise to total unification across a map of 33 cities. All core systems are fully in place and playable.

Officer & Realm Management: Features a complete roster of 630 historical officers. Recruit officers, assign them to city posts or armies, and manage their loyalty—a slighted general may defect with a city's wealth. Officers possess unique stats, aptitudes across 12 troop types, traits, personalities, and signature duel skills. Manage agriculture, commerce, recruitment, training, public order, and security, with the option to delegate distant territories to regional legions.

Real-Time Battles & Dynamic Great Campaigns: Command battles like a manager by setting operations (rules of engagement), formations, and unit compositions, then step in at decisive moments to commit reserves or rally troops. Unit counters, siege warfare, 1-on-1 duels, and strategist schemes shape the battlefield. The era's three great campaigns—Guandu, Red Cliffs, and the anti-hegemon coalition—unfold dynamically based on the state of the realm rather than a fixed script.

Modes & Language Support: Includes a standalone roguelike Duel Mode, global leaderboards (Unification score and Duel rankings), and full localization in five languages (English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese).

The core systems are complete, while balance, AI decision-making, UI clarity, localization polish, and mid-to-late game pacing are actively being refined during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price reflects the content and polish available today. We plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access and reaches full release, in line with the additional warlords, content, and overall polish added by then. Any meaningful price change will be announced in advance so players can make an informed decision.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to gather feedback through Steam Discussions, announcements, patch notes, and direct player reports. We are especially interested in reports regarding bugs, unclear UI, balance across officers, unit matchups, operations, and schemes, AI behavior, localization polish across all five languages, long-campaign information flow, and requests for future warlords and scenarios. Player feedback will directly guide our development priorities throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Three Kingdoms Born》 is a character-driven strategy game set in the turbulent age of the Three Kingdoms. Build your faction, recruit legendary officers, develop your cities, and shape the course of history through your decisions.

Every officer is more than just a set of numbers. Generals feature unique abilities, unit aptitudes, traits, personalities, and signature skills. Appoint them to critical government positions, place them in command of your armies, or rely on them as brilliant strategists. Keep your officers loyal, as neglect carries heavy consequences—a dissatisfied general may seize their wealth and abandon your faction entirely.

Command the Battle

Combat is not about micromanaging every single soldier. Prepare your army, set your tactics and formations, assign commanders to key roles, and watch the battle unfold in real time.

Read the battlefield and make critical decisions when they matter most. Reinforce a weakening line, commit reserves, shift your offensive focus, rally your troops, or exploit an opening in the enemy's defenses. Your officers and units fight according to their abilities and orders, while your tactical judgment determines when and where to intervene.

Unit matchups, formations, commanders, and pre-battle preparation are vital to victory. Spearmen can withstand devastating cavalry charges, ranged units can pressure enemy formations, and siege weapons can shatter fortified positions. When great generals meet, epic duels can erupt. And when a strategist finds an opening, a well-timed scheme can turn the tide of battle.

Build Your Realm

Cultivate your lands by developing agriculture and commerce. Conscript and train troops, maintain public order, appoint officials, and enact tailored policies for each city.

As your territory expands, manage your growing realm by delegating tasks to regional legions, allowing you to focus on the most critical front lines. Diplomacy also plays a vital role—utilize alliances, non-aggression pacts, coercion, and gifts to manipulate the balance of power.

Three Dynamic Great Campaigns

The era's most legendary wars evolve naturally from the state of the realm.

The Battle of Guandu, the Battle of Red Cliffs, and the grand anti-hegemon coalition are not simply fixed historical cutscenes. The participating factions shift dynamically based on the current balance of power, with multiple fronts and successive skirmishes shaping the final outcome.

History sets the stage. Your faction determines what happens next.

Duel Mode and Global Rankings

Test your generals' might in a standalone, roguelike Duel Mode. Embark on a run, overcome successive opponents, and see how far your chosen warrior can go.

Your achievements can also be measured against other players worldwide. Compete for the top spot on the global Duel rankings, and challenge yourself to achieve the highest score on the Unification leaderboard.
