Rexclaw is an open-source crew of 3D companions who live on your PC.

The app comes packaged with 5 pre-built companions: Eve, Ara, Rex, Sal and Leo, each with their own voice, face, personality and past. Talk to them out loud, keep them around while you work, and come back tomorrow: they'll remember.

Realtime Voice

Real-time voice conversation with sub-second responses — they speak with their own voices, lip-sync as they talk, and switch languages mid-sentence. Type instead whenever you'd rather; it's one continuous conversation either way.

They remember you

Your name, your projects, the joke from last week. Memories persist across sessions, and you stay in control,  everything they've remembered is reviewable and deletable. Sessions are frequently compacted, and facts are even extracted automatically through episodic memories, everything can be recalled later.

Company while you work

Pop your companion out as a desktop mascot, a small overlay that sits over your other windows, reacts to you, and can even see your screen when you ask. Ghost mode lets your clicks pass straight through them. You can hide the avatar while not on a call, and wake them by configurable voice command eg "hey eve"

Step into their world

Meet them in walkable 3D scenes, or visit in VR from any WebXR headset on your network — spatial audio, haptics, and a companion standing in your room. Companions can change the background, outfit and even mood to fit the occasion.

Create and play together

Generate images and videos together, let them take selfies, hand off research or file analysis to a background task — or bring a companion into your Minecraft world as a bot that plays alongside you.

You can also invite multiple companions into the same call, they talk to each other, and yourself, a low-latency director model decides who speaks next every turn.

Make them yours

Every personality is fully editable, and you can bring your own VRM avatars and outfits. Everything is stored locally on your machine, and the optional affection system lets the relationship grow — or cool — over time, on rules you write. MIT-licensed with the full source on GitHub.

Provider:

Rexclaw is currently powered by Grok's realtime voice API (+ full imagine API support), so you need your own xAI API key. You pay xAI directly for what you use.

Other providers may be supported in the future.
