About This Demo

This is the free demo of Fangjie: Shattered Altars, covering the first hours of the adventure: wake beneath a great tree, explore a world that is different every time, and fight all the way to the demo's final boss, the Stone Guardian.

Terrain, biomes and encounters are recombined every time, so there is no fixed route. Forests, snowfields, deserts, grasslands and islands each have their own look, and day, night and the seasons keep turning. Wonders wait in the distance, and gliders, boats and a grappling hook carry you over mountains and seas.

Every village has its own people and trades. The blacksmith upgrades and modifies your weapons, the stable looks after your pets and hatches eggs, and the warehouse keeps your loot safe. Spend time with the villagers and their friendship grows; after dark, the village needs you to help its guards hold the line.

Human, Elf, Orc and Undead each bring their own talents. The demo lets you play the Warrior, who raises a shield and charges straight in, and the Mage, who controls the field from range with frost, meteors and arcane power. More classes are on the way.

• Pick one talent per tier, so the same class can grow into different styles

• Passives and a star map to fine-tune your build

Dodge-roll, raise your shield, time a parry. The last hit of a combo sweeps the whole pack, and a wounded foe can be finished in a single execute. Every enemy attack is telegraphed, so if you read it you walk away clean.

The Stone Guardian stands before the altar, with its own arena and a full moveset. Once it falls, you decide its fate. Regional bosses across the world are waiting for a challenger too.

Collect all kinds of gear. Complete a set to unlock its set bonus, and random affixes make the same item play differently. The blacksmith can upgrade and modify your gear, and you can dye or transmog the looks you love.

Tame creatures in the wild, or bring an egg back to the stable and hatch it. Companions fight at your side and use their own skills; once your bond is strong enough you can ride them.

This game's implementation makes extensive use of generative AI tools. Most of the visual assets (including skill icons and UI elements such as the boss health bar), the background music, portions of the in-game text and its localization, and much of the source code were produced with the assistance of AI generation tools.

The game design itself is authored by the developer: the overall structure and player progression, class and skill design, boss movesets and phase design, and all numeric balance including damage values, health, drop rates and growth curves. These were planned, playtested and iterated on by the developer.
