About This Demo

ABOUT THIS DEMO

The Last Days in Arnhem is a single-player, turn-based tactical wargame set during Operation Market Garden in September 1944, focusing on the fighting around Arnhem.

The demo contains two playable scenarios, each presenting a different tactical situation and objective. Players command British airborne or German forces and must use positioning, firepower, morale and terrain to complete scenario objectives within a limited number of turns.

Units are activated individually. During an activation they can move, fire, prepare opportunity fire, assault enemy positions and perform other actions according to their role and current condition.

Combat is influenced by several tactical factors, including:

  • weapon range and line of sight;

  • terrain and building cover;

  • unit quality and morale;

  • casualties and Disorder;

  • positioning and movement;

  • commanders and command bonuses;

  • enemy opportunity fire;

  • close assaults.

Units that suffer losses or heavy enemy fire may accumulate Disorder, reducing their effectiveness and potentially forcing morale tests. Commanders can support nearby troops and improve their ability to continue fighting under pressure.

Different unit types have distinct battlefield roles. Infantry squads form the core of the force, while light and medium machine guns provide stronger supporting fire. Officers and commanders contribute mainly through their command abilities.

Terrain is an important part of combat. Buildings, vegetation and other features can provide protection, block or limit lines of sight and influence how units approach enemy positions.

The game is played against AI-controlled opposition. The AI moves, fires and reacts according to the tactical situation, while the player must decide when to advance, hold position, use covering fire or commit units to an assault.

THE TWO DEMO SCENARIOS

The demo includes two complete playable scenarios set in the Arnhem area during the opening stages of Operation Market Garden.

Each scenario has its own tactical situation, objectives and Victory Point conditions. Objectives may require the player to capture or defend important locations while also limiting losses and inflicting casualties on the enemy.

Scenarios are played over a fixed number of turns. At the end of the battle, control of objectives and losses suffered by both sides determine the final result.
