A convenience-store clerk can solve a murder from the contents of a shopping basket.

A fishmonger can break an alibi by judging how much the ice has melted.

A ferry captain needs only a glance at the timetable to prove that a route was impossible.

Even a passing dog could crack the case in five minutes.

Take on the role of Shingo Takase, a 43-year-old assistant inspector with the Okayama Prefectural Police. Identifying the killer is only the beginning of the investigation.

Inspect receipts, surveillance footage, route maps, access logs, phone data, witness statements, and the faintest traces left behind in everyday life.

Cross-reference the findings of convenience-store clerks, couriers, festival volunteers, street cleaners, ferry crews, commuters, and local residents. Each knows a different side of the city—and sees what the police cannot.

Reconstruct timelines, uncover contradictions, and separate what sounds plausible from what the evidence can actually prove.
