About This Game

Kronon Era is a co-op horde survivor, made by one person, in Godot. It is in playtest on Steam and runs on its own dedicated server. Right now the game has one town, one 10-minute run and one boss. That is not much, and it is on purpose: first the foundation has to hold up with real people, then the content comes.

What you can play right now (v0.97)

  • Shared town: you arrive in a square with whoever else is online. Chat, friends, block, party. The square's portal takes the whole party into a run.

  • One run: Grey Plain, 10 minutes: the horde grows in five tiers, with swarms, charges, marches and elites in between. At the end, the Skeleton King: he falls apart, rebuilds himself from the bones and comes back for a second phase.

  • Three heroes + the Recruit: Bulwark holds and pulls the horde. Oracle is the only healing in the game. Blade kills fast and dies easy.

  • Seven weapons with seven levels each and a final evolution. 22 cards with rarity. Nine enemy types with elite traits.

  • Party level up: everyone sees everyone else's hand and can suggest a card to an ally.

  • Server-side collection: heroes drop as pieces from elites and bosses, each piece with its own grimoire. Forge (reroll, fusion, preservation, ascension), progression path, quests and a Codex that reveals itself as you play.

  • Market with no currency: you say what you want and a ceiling in materials; the system matches you with the cheapest offer. Nobody picks a seller.

  • The server has the final say: damage, kills, drops, purchases and even your character's movement speed are measured on the server side.

  • Challenge modes: straight to the King, with and without cards in the draw.

  • Automatic update with every version.

What is still rough

  • Only one run and one boss. The other five runs are designed in the code, but switched off.

  • Part of the art is placeholder. Some heroes and creatures already have their own sprite, others do not.

  • Forge and market run with no fee, on purpose, to measure the economy.

  • Translation only in the menus (30 languages).

  • The playtest is small. Each run opens a process on the server, so the number of players is limited while we measure the cost.

  • The economy resets at launch. Everything gathered during the playtest (pieces, materials, collection) goes away. The notice goes out at least one week in advance.

Join the Discord

The game changes because of the people who play it. The elite explosion was rejected by a player ("there is no time to get out") and fixed the same day. The Codex exists because someone lost 26 minutes trying to figure out what a weapon turned into.

If you want to test, complain, suggest or just follow along: . That is where the playtest keys, the version announcements and the polls on what comes first go out.

Roadmap

No dates. The order is the order of priority, and it changes with feedback.

Now (playtest)

  • Steam login instead of the provisional per-install identity.

  • Calibrate drops, forge and market with real data from the people playing.

  • Finish the art for the heroes and enemies that are still placeholder.

  • Translation of the rest of the game (cards, weapons, Codex).

Next

  • 20 and 30-minute runs, in chapters. Each chapter closes with a gate boss and switches the arena (pit, hall, corridors). Harder, faster, more dangerous, not just more numerous.

  • A more complete Skeleton King

Later

  • Biomes where the floor is the rule: Howling Glacier (ice with inertia), Spectral Current (currents that push you), Heart of the Volcano (lava that flashes before it burns). The floor physics is already in the code; the stages are not.

  • New bosses, each one asking for something beyond damage.

  • More heroes and grimoires.

Launch

  • "Coming soon" page on Steam, wishlist, playtest closed and paid launch.

  • Economy reset, with the Codex possibly preserved.
