AI Generated Content Disclosure

Project 9 is an experimental independent game project. Most of its programming, artwork, music, sound effects, and portions of its narrative content were created with the assistance of generative AI tools, followed by human selection, editing, adjustment, and integration. The project explores both the possibilities and limitations of using AI within an independent game-development workflow.

À propos de la démo

Step into the Night Voyage Billiards Club, a venue that opens only after dark, and play your first match alongside your companion, Lin Xia. This demo includes standard pool, a beginner tutorial, focused practice challenges, and the nine-night “Night Voyage Oddball” mode, which combines strategic buildcrafting with score-based challenges. Practice aiming, shot power, and cue-ball positioning; collect different cues; and, in Oddball mode, purchase, merge, and arrange balls with special effects to create your own scoring combinations. Additional stories, characters, and long-term progression systems will continue to expand in the full version.

The Project 9 Demo invites you into a late-night pool hall surrounded by neon lights and jazz. Here, you can meet Lin Xia and gradually get to know her through relaxed conversations with a hint of romance—or pick up a cue and enjoy pool gameplay grounded in realistic collisions and positional play.

This demo focuses primarily on Lin Xia’s story while showcasing the game’s core pool mechanics, character interactions, and the buildcrafting gameplay of Night Voyage Oddball. Additional characters, story chapters, and expanded game modes will be available in the full version.

【Demo Content】

  • Selected story chapters and interactions from Lin Xia’s route

  • Standard eight-ball matches against computer-controlled companions or opponents

  • A seven-page beginner tutorial covering aiming, shot power, cue-ball contact points, rules, and basic positional play

  • Three practice modes for learning straight shots, angled shots, and power control

  • A cue progression system that allows you to gradually improve your cue’s attributes

  • Local play, LAN multiplayer, and Steam Friends lobbies

  • Support for multiple save files

【Night Voyage Oddball: Trial Run】

Night Voyage Oddball is a pool-based buildcrafting mode set across nine nights. Each night introduces a different target score, shot limit, and set of challenge conditions. You must reach the target with a limited number of shots while trying to achieve the highest possible final score.

When a ball is pocketed, its score is calculated using its point value, star level, pocket multiplier, and special effects. Different special balls can increase base values, enhance specific pockets, apply multiplicative bonuses, or alter the effects of other balls on the table.

After completing a night, you can visit the Oddball Counter to:

  • Purchase special balls with different rarities and effects

  • Drag together matching balls to merge them, increasing their star level and base rewards

  • Rearrange the break formation for the next night inside the triangle rack

  • Create your own scoring build around point values, pocket multipliers, and chained effects

As the nights progress, the target scores will increase and the table layouts will become more complex. Completing all nine nights requires careful planning, smart adjustments to your ball lineup, and good judgment about when to pursue a high-scoring play.

【AI Disclosure】

Night Billiards: Heartbeat Partner is an experimental game project developed with extensive assistance from generative AI. AI tools contributed to the creation of fictional adult character artwork, pool hall environments, certain interface decorations, video and animation assets, background music, ambient audio, and some pool sound effects. They also assisted with worldbuilding, character development, story dialogue, gameplay instructions, promotional copy, gameplay concepts, numerical simulations, programming, debugging, and test design.

All AI-assisted content presented to players is generated before release. It is selected, edited, integrated, and ultimately reviewed by the developer before being included in the game as fixed assets. The game does not access generative AI services at runtime. It does not generate images, audio, text, or dialogue in real time, nor does it submit player input, save data, or multiplayer content to any AI service. Pool physics, rule validation, and character progression are all handled locally by the game.

【About the Current Version】

This demo is still in development. Some visuals, balance values, sound effects, multiplayer features, and story content may continue to change. The demo’s save-file format may also change in future updates.

This is an experimental independent game project. Its programming, artwork, music, sound effects, and portions of its narrative content were created almost entirely with the assistance of generative AI tools, followed by human selection, editing, adjustment, and integration. Through this project, we hope to explore the possibilities of using AI in independent game development.

If you enjoy the atmosphere of a late-night pool hall, character-driven companionship, and strategic buildcrafting centered on pool, we invite you to try the demo and add Project 9 to your wishlist.
