About This Game

Once You Understand Magic, Everything Becomes an Ingredient.

Welcome to Scroll Shop, where villagers, merchants, nobles and adventurers send you problems they believe magic can solve.

A farm is crawling with rats.
A monster is blocking the road.
A merchant needs a rusted gate restored.
Someone desperately wants to be loved.

Read the request. Figure out what they actually need. Then craft the scroll you believe will solve it.

And eventually, find out what your magic really did.

Magic Has Rules. You Have to Discover Them.

You do not begin with a spellbook full of answers.

Experiment with magical elements, strange ingredients and scrolls you have already discovered to uncover new spells.

Fire burns.
Water cleans and corrodes.
Light reveals.
Time accelerates.

Those meanings do not disappear when elements are combined. They build on one another.

A simple spell you discover today may become an ingredient in something far more powerful tomorrow. What begins as a way to remove rust might eventually teach you how to tear an iron construct apart.

The deeper you understand the logic of magic, the more possibilities you begin to see.

Solving the Problem Is Only the First Test.

There is rarely just one spell that works.

A firestorm will get rid of the rats.

It may also burn the crops, the barn and the family's winter stock.

The customer matters too. A ruthless soldier may appreciate a lethal solution that horrifies a pacifist farmer. A frugal merchant may admire an elegant low-tier spell while a showy noble expects something spectacular.

Think about the problem, its scale, the surroundings and the person asking for your help.

A spell can work perfectly and still be completely wrong.

Your Magic Leaves the Shop Without You.

Once a scroll is delivered, the decision is out of your hands.

Later, you discover what happened.

Perhaps the problem vanished exactly as intended. Perhaps your solution worked with an unfortunate side effect. Perhaps you misunderstood the request entirely.

Or perhaps the new problem is now much worse than the old one.

Customers remember what you gave them. Good judgment can earn better rewards, rare ingredients, reputation and future opportunities. Reckless magic has consequences of its own.

In Scroll Shop, success is not simply about whether a spell worked.

It is about what happened because it did.

Every Mistake Teaches You Something.

Your greatest progression does not come from a level bar.

It comes from understanding the world.

Discovered recipes fill your Spell Book. Encounters with unfamiliar creatures reveal weaknesses and resistances in your Beast Book. Returning customers become less mysterious as you learn their preferences, values and history.

Knowledge gathered from one problem can become the missing piece of another.

The creature that nearly ruined your day yesterday might be the one you know exactly how to handle tomorrow.

The Kingdom Keeps Sending Problems.

Each day brings a new batch of letters, changing ingredient stocks and events that alter what people need from you.

Your time is limited.

Choose which requests deserve your attention. Buy and earn ingredients. Improve your tools. Research unfamiliar magic. Experiment with combinations that might lead somewhere new.

Some letters promise easy coin.

Some hide rare discoveries.

Some ask for magic you do not yet understand.

And some may be better left unanswered.

You Are Not Collecting Spells. You Are Learning Magic.

The more of its logic you uncover, the larger your vocabulary becomes.

The more you learn about the people and creatures beyond your shop, the better your decisions become.

And sooner or later, you may look at a problem, look at everything you have learned and realize that the answer was sitting in front of you all along.
