Build your company from a struggling independent studio into the biggest name in Horrorwood. Commission movies, assemble casts, choose directors and manage the relationships, risks and rivalries unfolding behind the cameras.

Choose the genre, tone, budget, cast, director and locations for each production. Expand your story-card collection and unlock new creative possibilities, then shape films capable of terrifying audiences, impressing critics or becoming infamous disasters.

MANAGE THE STARS

Scout and sign actors with their own ambitions, personalities and hidden strengths. Co-stars can develop electric chemistry, fall in love or refuse to work together. Negotiate contracts, repair feuds and decide who deserves their next career-defining role.

MASTER THE HORROR HANDBOOKS

Every horror genre has its own branching progression tree. Make movies to earn genre points, then decide what your studio learns next—slow-burning fear, brutal violence, twisting mysteries, stronger characters, relentless chases or new backlot locations.

Each lesson expands your creative collection with story cards, castable roles, filmmaking techniques, locations and legendary commissions. The branches you master shape both the movies you can create and the reputation your studio builds.

BUILD YOUR OWN POSTERS

Turn every release into its own piece of artwork. Combine cast portraits, unlocked props, backgrounds, titles, taglines, colours and effects in the Poster Designer. Position elements by hand, refine the composition and create a campaign that improves the film’s marketing.

IMPORT YOUR OWN CAST

Bring your friends, original characters or your own performers into Horrorwood. Import a folder of portraits and Dead Famous turns them into simulated actors with generated personalities, ambitions, screen personas, relationships, drama and evolving careers.

Create a complete custom five-studio draft using only your imported cast, or combine them with the game’s original actors. Imported images remain stored locally on your device.
