What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cartoon Crime is an open-world game with a lot of systems working together, and we believe Early Access is the best way to develop and improve those systems with real player feedback. We want to see how players interact with the city, missions, combat, police, activities, and other features, then use that feedback to help shape the game as development continues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Cartoon Crime to remain in Early Access for around 6 to 12 months. This is only an estimate and may change depending on development progress and player feedback. Our main goal is to take the time needed to improve the game rather than rush toward a specific date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, we plan to expand and improve the game across multiple areas. This may include additional missions, activities, locations, weapons, vehicles, character options, improvements to the police and wanted systems, more things to discover around the city, and general improvements to gameplay, balance, performance, and presentation.

We also plan to keep refining existing systems based on player feedback. Our goal for the full version is to offer a larger, more polished, and more complete version of the Cartoon Crime experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is playable and includes the core open-world experience. Players can explore the city, complete missions, use weapons, fight enemies, interact with the police and wanted system, recruit bodyguards, and switch between third-person and top-down camera modes.

The game also includes activities and locations such as shops, gyms, arcades, bowling, and billiards. Some areas and systems are still being developed and refined, and players may encounter bugs, balance issues, or features that change during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to offer Cartoon Crime at a lower price during Early Access. As the game grows and receives more content, features, and improvements, we may gradually increase the price. Any pricing changes will be communicated in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will be a major part of Early Access. We plan to follow Steam discussions, reviews, bug reports, and suggestions to understand what players enjoy, what needs improvement, and which parts of the game need more attention.

We want to keep communication open throughout development and use community feedback to help us improve existing systems, balance the game, fix problems, and decide where development time is best spent.”

About This Game

Cartoon Crime is an open-world action game built around freedom, exploration, street fights, and the kind of chaos that happens when you stop following the objective marker.

Explore the city at your own pace, take on missions, make money, buy weapons, improve your skills, recruit bodyguards, and find new things to do across the map. You can follow the story, spend time building up your character, or simply head into the streets and see where the day takes you.

Switch freely between third-person and a classic top-down camera while playing. Third-person brings you closer to the action, while the overhead view gives the game a more old-school arcade crime-game feel.

The world is designed to be more than scenery. You can enter different shops and interiors, visit gun stores, work out at gyms, eat at fast-food restaurants, watch movies at cinemas, play bowling and billiards, use arcade machines, and discover activities scattered around the cities.

Combat is not limited to guns. Get into fist fights, use kicks and melee weapons, improve your fighting ability, and take part in kickboxing challenges against increasingly dangerous opponents. Different skills improve as you play, giving you more reasons to explore activities beyond the main missions.

The streets react to what you do. Start trouble and civilians may run, fight back, or get caught in the chaos. Push things further and the police become involved. As your wanted level increases, escaping becomes harder and the situation can quickly turn into a full chase.

You can also recruit bodyguards who follow you around the city and fight alongside you when things get dangerous.
