About This Game

Fly. The rest of the galaxy is busy.

Starscrip is a single-player, top-down space trading and combat RPG inspired by Escape Velocity Nova. You begin with a small ship in the Verge, a galaxy whose economy and political borders grow out of simulated history.

Trade cargo, take contracts, hunt bounties, and upgrade your ship. Learn where goods are scarce, which routes are dangerous, and whose work pays. The same economy that creates your opportunities also supports the companies and war powers around you.

Outfit your ship. Choose your fights.

Fly with inertia and fight in real time. Choose weapons, ammunition, defenses, and carried craft to suit your ship. Power, equipment damage, and finite supplies give your choices consequences.

Hire mercenary escorts, collect salvage, or board a surrendered ship. Join a faction and earn access to its contracts and equipment. Take part in the wars along borders, or seek your fortune on other routes.

Read the market. Find your next opportunity.

Production, demand, and freight determine what ports stock and what they charge, including the ships and equipment for sale. Mission boards draw work from the economy. A surplus at one port and a shortage at another can give you a reason to travel.

Use local price histories and news to plan your next run. Each jump advances the world calendar; explicit waits at ports let you advance it further. Markets and conflicts develop as those days pass, so a profitable route can change before you return.

Build a company within that economy.

Expand beyond your own cargo hold. Found a company, buy company ships, and dispatch commercial hauls. Acquire productive holdings or fund frontier ventures to establish depots.

Your company pays for its work and receives the returns. Its ships travel the same space you fly through, where a lost cargo or an impounded hull can need your intervention. Discover other companies through their headquarters, traffic, and contracts as you build your own business.

Enter a galaxy with a past.

Before your first flight, the galaxy develops through a simulated history. Population, industry, money, security, and political power shape the world you enter. That history becomes the starting point for the economy you play in.

Explore the Verge, or create another starting world with the in-game galaxy generator. Ships retain their curated designs while a different history gives you a different economic and political landscape to discover.
