About This Game

In Gravitas: Noblesse Oblige you will play through a strategic turn-based narrative campaign where you will have to carefully balance Economics, Diplomacy, Politics and your Military to achieve your Ambitions. On the campaign map you’ll maneuver Armies and Supply Trains while you administer your cities and policies to ensure you not only have enough money and supplies, but also manpower via a simulated economy and trade network.

In the tactical grid-based battles, your troops will reflect your population's culture and once they take the field, turns will alternate between you and the enemy as you jockey for positional advantages to flank and screen your opponent. Every Troop has a unique combinations of Abilities you’ll need to leverage. Know your men and know your enemy, lest you know defeat. The death of every farm boy will be on your hands, be ready to bear the responsibility.

The Hunter’s truce has finally ended and the fractured city-states of the former empire are poised to secure their positions. Among the disparate players on the board, the Champion of the West Wind stands out for having nearly succeeded in completing the Hunter’s challenge. Though he failed and the empire dissolved at the Great Wolf’s howl, the people are desperate for a hero and that is a most convenient role for August.

The victory condition is to complete August's Ambitions, but why stop there, sun-eater? See if you can devour the whole and complete every characters' Ambitions in a single campaign, the Golden Run! As for August, he will stake his claim and the dice will roll. How they land will be determined by your ability to rule and your deftness in navigating this complex simulation.

Every city is comprised of Sectors that produce goods to meet the needs of its people. Supply and Demand influence prices and differences between markets create opportunities for the merchant class. Securing trade agreements with foreign powers will allow caravans and ships to set out to buy low and sell high! By curating an individual city's Trade Priorities you can create buy and sell orders to bolster specific industries in accordance with your strategy while making strategic investments through Public Works to improve your cities.

Importing extra Food can bolster your population growth, but your local farmers won't appreciate the competition! Prioritize exports and your Tradesmen will be pleased, but that drop in local supply and rise in prices will hinder your people's spending power, after all, one person's spending is another's income. Decisions, decisions...

Affordable Staple Goods, like Food and Housing, will bring down the Cost of Living (CoL), decreasing Poverty and the likelihood of your people turning to Banditry... Though perhaps it's better to focus on Industrial or Luxury Goods to increase their incomes... I'll keep the ledger warm for you, we might need to run some numbers...

Within your nation different factions will organize and voice their support for different policies at the Royal Diet. Making a concession to one, may upset another and tensions can begin to rise. Go too long without tending to their desires and they may begin organizing against you, leading to a potential Revolt. Everyone’s a critic, no?

Inheriting the manorial estate system from the empire, the Aristocracy is your friend in administration. They are the means by which you collect taxes as well as provide legal rulings and civic guidance at the local level. Challenging the status quo can be rather tumultuous if you decide to embark upon the path of centralizing your state.

Your people can be quite demanding, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to keep the peace~

Levies come directly from your population and the Troops you recruit are determined by the local culture. Recruiting requires money and resources, such as Arms, Horses, Leather and more depending on the Troop. Once in the field, Troops will also need to be fed and if you're running a siege, that can be quite the logistical challenge. You'll need to create Supply Trains and safely escort them to your besieging forces to keep them from suffering attrition. Every supply run and skirmish can make the difference! Oh, and mind the winter, would you? Best to plan that siege around campaign season.

I guess it's as they say, 'Amateurs talk tactics, professionals study logistics.' So get studying.
