Why Early Access?

“Dead Extraction combines extraction-based combat, shelter development, resource management, and a dynamic survivor community. These interconnected systems benefit greatly from real player feedback, especially when balancing combat difficulty, loot, progression, shelter upkeep, and survivor behavior.

Early Access gives us an opportunity to improve these systems alongside the community while expanding and refining the game. We want to observe how different players approach raids, manage limited resources, build their shelters, and respond to events within their survivor community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Dead Extraction to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. This estimate may change depending on player feedback, development progress, and the amount of testing and refinement required before the game is ready for a full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the variety of raid locations, missions, enemies, bosses, weapons, equipment, crafting options, and shelter upgrades.

We also plan to deepen the survivor community simulation with additional interactions, relationships, events, conflicts, crimes, and consequences. Other areas we intend to improve include balancing, onboarding, user interface, accessibility, localization, performance, and overall presentation.

These plans may be adjusted as development continues and as we learn which areas are most important to the community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core gameplay loop of preparing at the shelter, entering a raid, fighting and scavenging for supplies, extracting, and returning home to manage resources and improve the base.

Players can explore several types of operations, including the Streets of Tokyo, the procedural districts of Tokyo Downtown, the Labs, high-risk night raids, and contract missions. The current version includes weapons and equipment, grid-based inventory management, crafting, facility upgrades, shelter construction and defense, resource management, recruitable survivors, and companion deployment.

Survivors have professions, traits, conditions, morale, relationships, personal activity, and behavior that can lead to conflicts and crimes within the shelter. Players can monitor community logs, investigate incidents, review witness information, and decide how the shelter should respond.

The game is playable, but some content, balancing, user interface elements, localization, performance, and community systems are still being developed and refined. Players may encounter bugs or unfinished elements during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer Dead Extraction at a lower price during the earlier stages of Early Access. The price may gradually increase as significant content, features, and improvements are added, and it may increase again when the game leaves Early Access.

Any planned price changes will be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect feedback through the Steam Community Hub and the official Dead Extraction Discord server. Players will be able to report bugs, suggest improvements, discuss balance, and share their experiences with raids, shelter management, equipment, and survivor behavior.

We intend to publish development updates and patch notes, review recurring feedback, and use player reports to help prioritize fixes and improvements. Community feedback will be especially valuable for refining difficulty, progression, resource balance, quality-of-life features, and the clarity of the game's systems.”
