About This Game

A destruction physics sandbox where everything is real

MOLTYN is a destruction physics game about a man with every power of the earth and a town that keeps getting in the way. The whole world is a live simulation. Every pixel of rock, sand, water, lava, steam, ice and metal is matter: it melts, floods, freezes, burns, sets, cracks and comes down under its own weight. Nothing is scripted, so no two disasters go the same way. Lava that reaches the sea flashes to steam and sets as obsidian. Cut the base out of a tower and it pancakes into rubble you can bury, melt, or pick up and throw at something else.

A superhero with every power of the earth

You are MOLTYN, a volcanologist who leaned in for a closer look, fell in, and came out the other side with, for reasons the volcano has never explained, every power of the earth. You start with flight and a laser and earn the rest across the story: lava, water, wind, lava, storm, gravity, freeze, plus a nuke for when the mission has already gone badly, and did we mention lava?

Story campaign: 18 missions, five chapters

A volcano makes a superhero by accident and his first job is cleaning up his own arrival. It escalates from there: enemies that attack you and the town, asteroid storms, and eventually city sized kaiju. Missions grade your work rather than fail you. The score is the collateral: what the town lost while you were saving it.

Sandbox mode: free play in destructible worlds

Full powers, no fail state, pick a world: a volcanic island, a desert, a frozen world, a harbour city, the ocean floor, even the Moon. Pour fluids, start reactions, knock it all down and watch the sim sort out what is left.

Kaiju fights the size of a skyline

The kaiju are not monsters. They are eruptions that learned to walk: deep terrain driven by pressure, glowing at the seams. You fight them like geology. Heat strips the armour, freezing a leg staggers it, gravity rips the loosened plates off, and then you put the core out. They are eating or lasering the town the whole time you work.

Shadow MOLTYN

The game has been watching how you play. Eventually it builds something out of it: a second MOLTYN with your habits, your favourite power and your worst reflexes, made of the same matter as everything else and carved apart the same way. The one enemy that already knows what you are about to do.

A small town with a very long repair bill

The comedy runs through the council correspondence: a mayor who files you under weather, an insurer that reclassifies you as an act of God, cats that must be rescued and will invoice you for it. A superhero story with a small-town heart.

Soundtrack

A bespoke synthesised soundtrack, written for the game by Beatscribe.
