About This Content

The sound of adventure in the Shimmershift.

Vol. 1 "Chaos" collects the upbeat, playful music of Stay — the score for setting out into the Shimmershift with Ember at your side. In the game, the music is tied to your companion: you only hear it when Ember is near, fading as you wander and blooming back as she catches up. This is that music, gathered into an album you can take anywhere.

Composed by award-winning game composer Dren McDonald (Counter-Strike 2, Stranger Things VR, the award-winning Gathering Sky), the score is built from a deliberately small, intimate palette — with the human voice at its center. McDonald wrote it around two of his favorite vocalists: Sophia James (American Idol Season 18 finalist; "Somebody New," 24M+ streams) and Amelie Anna (Death Stranding 2, Destiny 2), whose voices even carry the songs of the game's mischievous Mosslings.

Six tracks, produced and engineered by Dren McDonald with additional engineering by Chad Wackerman, and released on Appearing Records. Mixed in Dolby Atmos and stereo.
