About This Game

Become the legendary general during Caesar’s Civil War while dealing with officers who challenge your judgment, allies with their own interests, and rivals looking for an advantage.

Where history leaves room for uncertainty, your decisions define Caesar’s story. Build relationships, secure allies, and decide how you respond when political and personal loyalties come into conflict.

Plan battles from the war tent. Position different unit types, use terrain to your advantage, and issue orders based on what you know of the enemy.

Then move to the battlefield as both armies carry out their plans simultaneously. Take part as events unfold, but expect the enemy to disrupt even your best orders. When the action ends, return to the war tent, reassess the battlefield, and plan your next move.

Travel through a branching campaign where encounters can be resolved in different ways. Parley with a settlement or take what your army needs by force. Each approach can affect your supplies, your relationships, and what happens when you reach the next battle.

Keep your legions supplied and their morale unbroken as the campaign moves forward. You cannot know every consequence before making a choice, but you will have to live with the kind of Caesar those choices create.

Explore the Roman world of 49 BCE and meet a historically grounded cast, including figures such as Cicero and Cato the Younger. Encounter soldiers, commanders, political rivals, and civilians as the Republic is torn apart by civil war.

From its people and places to the events of Caesar’s campaign, Historia: Roma Aeterna draws on historical research to bring the late Republic to life.
