What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because the core design of Point Line Surface — the point·line·surface loop, line-only movement, and the grab-hook capture fantasy — is already playable and stable. However, the systems that make the game truly unique, especially the Car Legion and Hex Shop, need real player data to balance. Early Access lets us ship the core loop now, observe how players actually build their line networks and manage their army capacity, then tune the content layers together with the community. The game is fun today; Early Access is how we make it right.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately **9 to 12 months**.

The current Early Access build already contains the complete core gameplay loop — line-only movement, point absorption and leveling, manual and auto shooting, the grab-hook, surface (enclosure) detection with field effects, the full 19-wave pacing, and the upgrade card system. What remains before 1.0 is content and depth: the Car Legion system (capture enemies → recruit them as your army), the Hex Shop (spend line segments to draw rule-changing mutators), the full 19-weapon + 19-ultra-weapon set, complete enemy behaviors (Bomber, Shielder, Titan, Boss), plus visual effects, audio, endless mode, and cloud saves.

We will exit Early Access only when the core fantasy — *build your battlefield, recruit your army, dominate your territory* — is fully realized and the balance has been validated by the community across a full 30-minute run.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access (current build) includes: the core loop, surface detection, 19-wave pacing, 10 enemy types, and the upgrade card system.

Our roadmap for the full version includes: the Car Legion system, the Hex Shop, the full 19-weapon + 19-ultra-weapon set, complete enemy behaviors (Bomber self-detonation, Shielder aura, Titan shockwave, multi-phase Boss), five unlock paths, and polish (VFX, audio, endless mode, cloud saves).

No core mechanics will be removed; Early Access players keep everything they own, and we plan to deliver the full content at 1.0 without additional cost.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access build is a fully playable vertical slice. You can start a run, move only along lines, build networks, enclose surfaces, level up via the card system, fight through all four stages and the existing enemy roster, and complete a 25–30 minute session.

Core combat and progression are stable, and the main loop is already fun. What is still missing or placeholder: the Car Legion system, the Hex Shop, the full 19-weapon + ultra-weapon set, complete enemy behaviors for Bomber / Shielder / Titan / Boss, final VFX/audio pass, cloud saves, and endless mode. Balance is being actively tuned.

This build is best suited for players who enjoy the core loop and want to help shape the deeper systems as they are added. We will run an official Discord, a public monthly roadmap, and quarterly community polls so players can vote on what gets built next.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Early Access players are rewarded for joining us at the beginning: the price during Early Access is lower than the planned price at full release. As major content milestones are added — the Car Legion system, the Hex Shop, new weapons and ultra-weapons, and the final boss — we plan to gradually raise the price to reflect the growing scope of the game. However, everyone who buys during Early Access will receive all future updates, including the 1.0 release, at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We see Early Access as a co-design process rather than a finished pitch. From day one we will:

Run an official Discord with dedicated channels for feedback, bug reports, and balance suggestions. Active community members will receive an "Early Supporter" role.
Publish a public development roadmap updated monthly, showing what is shipping next for the Car Legion system, Hex Shop, and weapon unlocks.
Hold quarterly "Build Polls" where the community votes on which new Car type, Hex mutator, or ultra-weapon to prioritize next — player votes directly shape the build order.
Ship a changelog with every update and include a short dev note explaining the reasoning behind major balance changes, so players understand why, not just what.
Actively monitor the Steam community hub and review section and respond to the top-voted threads each week.
Our design philosophy is fixed — the point·line·surface loop and the "you recruit, you don't just kill" fantasy — but the content built on top of it (mutators, legion synergies, boss mechanics) is where we want the community's fingerprints all over it.

In the abstract geometric world of Points, Lines & Planes, you cannot roam freely—you can only move along line segments.
