Although Rosa is the main character in the story, each character has their own personal story that unfolds as the days go by. It’s up to us whether we want to build a relationship with them and learn their story, or whether we prefer to focus on our main mission. Naturally, some characters will be key to the story’s main conflict, and we’ll learn more about them as we progress through the game.

We have taken great care in developing the characters, creating a distinct look for each one and giving them their own unique animations in every sprite.

We are Marina (1989) and Guillem (1996), two teachers from Barcelona who are passionate about video games.

We met while working at a secondary school and immediately took an interest in each other. We shared, and still share, the most fundamental principles of our lives, and our relationship has helped us to understand these principles more deeply. Marina taught Guillem to love better, while Guillem inspired Marina to have greater conviction in her beliefs.

Unfamiliar Match is a project born from Marina’s passion for watercolor painting and Guillem’s love of pixel art. Initially, we created worlds and works in both drawing and pixel art simultaneously, before committing to bringing one of these worlds to life as a Game Boy Color game.

Through What Love Says, we aim to explore themes that have brought us together and form part of the meaning of our lives: the importance of acting with honesty, the pain of yearning for hope, and the significance of love in life.
