About This Game

 Every spell starts with a blank 

Grimoire of Blanks is a 1 to 4 player roguelite deckbuilder where your cards are unfinished sentences. Fill their empty slots with words and build your spells directly during combat.

The same card can deal damage, hit the whole room, protect an ally, react to an enemy action, or become part of a much larger combo. What it does depends on the words you put into it.

 Build your spell 

The card gives you the sentence. Your words decide what it becomes.

Draw cards and words, fill the empty slots, and assemble your spells directly in combat.

A simple attack can become an area spell, trigger from a specific enemy intent, protect an ally, or gain additional effects that completely change how it works.

As your vocabulary grows, so do your options.

Do you use your strongest words now, save them for later, or build around what you still have available?

 Cast alone or together 

Play solo or enter the same run with up to three other players.

Each player chooses a class, builds their own deck, and brings their own pool of words into combat.

Words can be lent to other players during a fight. Complete a teammate's missing slot, rescue a card they otherwise could not use, or help set up a combination that would not be possible alone.

One player can apply a condition, another can exploit it, while someone else protects the group or prepares the next big play.

 Choose your school of magic 

All four mages use the same card and word system differently.

Scribe

Uses words efficiently and can repeat powerful spells.

Binder

Reads enemy intentions and prepares effects that trigger at exactly the right moment.

Heretic

Trades health for power and leans into risky effects such as Bleed and Poison.

Starmage

Manipulates Void, Starlight and lunar phases to push spells further.

Each class changes which cards and words matter most and which combinations you can build during a run.

 Take the risk 

Powerful combinations often come with a cost.

Some spells deal recoil damage, consume health, or require dangerous conditions. Others only become truly strong when several effects are chained together.

You decide when the risk is worth taking.

A well-built combination can completely turn a fight. A poorly prepared one can leave you with very few options.

 Choose your path 

Between battles, decide which seal to open next.

Fight different enemy groups, improve your deck, expand your vocabulary, and adapt your strategy to what lies ahead.

Every new room presents another choice. More power, more safety, or greater risk for a stronger reward.

 Every run plays differently 

New cards, new words and new combinations change what you can build each time.

Discover unusual synergies, develop different strategies for each class, and find combinations that were not available in your previous run.

In Grimoire of Blanks, you do not simply draw finished spells from your deck.

You build them from the words you find.
