What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“At its Early Access launch, Federal Cadet will already offer a solid playable foundation centered around Pinewood: patrol duties, routine investigations, career progression within the Pinewood Police Department, local free-play, and a first major narrative case tied to the town’s criminal activity.

We are choosing Early Access because the investigation systems rely heavily on player experience: the pacing of evidence discovery, the clarity of objectives, the variety of free-play cases, the readability of the police tablet, and the way investigations connect within a longer narrative arc.

Before introducing new types of investigations and expanding the game with additional major narrative cases, we want to validate the foundations with the community. Our goal is to fix issues, improve the first case families, adjust progression, and strengthen the writing before adding more content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Federal Cadet to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months.

This duration may change depending on player feedback, the time needed to stabilize the investigation systems, improve free-play, expand existing case content, and properly prepare the next major additions.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the final version of Federal Cadet to offer a more complete, more stable, and richer experience than the initial Early Access release.

Our goal is to gradually add new investigation types, more case models for free-play, gameplay improvements, a more complete progression within the Pinewood Police Department, and new major narrative cases.

We also plan to improve the systems already available in Early Access: investigation flow, case variety, reward balancing, interface readability, quality of life, performance, options, and controller support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Federal Cadet will offer a first playable version focused on Pinewood and the player’s career within the Pinewood Police Department.

The game will include a complete loop built around patrols, radio calls, citations, early investigations, evidence collection, dialogues, the police tablet, local free-play, and reputation progression.

This version will already include several types of cases as well as a first major narrative arc. Some elements will still be improved during Early Access, including progression balance, case variety, usability, performance, options, controller support, and additional content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan for the price of Federal Cadet to gradually increase as the game gains more content, features, and stability during Early Access.

The Early Access launch price will reflect the initial state of the game. If new investigation types, major narrative cases, significant improvements, and additional content are added, the price may be adjusted before or at the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to involve the community by collecting regular feedback on the most important parts of Federal Cadet: the investigation flow, objective clarity, free-play variety, progression balance, the police tablet interface, and the pacing of narrative arcs.

Player feedback will help us fix issues, improve existing systems, and prioritize the most useful additions before introducing new case types or new major narrative investigations.

We plan to follow Steam discussions, demo feedback, Early Access reviews, and bug reports in order to adjust the game through updates. If certain ideas are frequently requested by the community and fit the vision of Federal Cadet, they may also be considered and potentially added to the game.”

About This Game

Federal Cadet is a single-player police simulation and investigation game where you begin your career as a cadet in the Pinewood Police Department.

Patrol a small American town, respond to radio calls, issue citations, inspect scenes, collect evidence, question witnesses and suspects, and work your way toward increasingly sensitive cases.

Play as a young recruit newly assigned to the Pinewood Police Department. Your first days begin with the fundamentals of police work: learning procedures, getting familiar with the town, patrolling the streets, and handling your first interventions.

Every mission brings you closer to one simple goal: earning the department’s trust and proving you can handle more than routine duties.

Pinewood may look quiet at first, but every street can hide a report, a violation, or a situation that needs to be clarified.

Check vehicles, verify plates, inspect locations, talk to residents, and respond to dispatch calls. Everyday police work can quickly become the starting point for more complex investigations.

An investigation is not just about finding a suspect. You will need to observe scenes, collect the right clues, confirm important information, question people connected to the case, and decide whether the evidence is strong enough to act.

A justified arrest strengthens your reputation. A bad decision can cost you.

Your police tablet brings together your essential tools: active missions, discovered evidence, linked persons, important locations, and progression information.

It becomes the center of your field investigation work. Track each case, review the file, and build your reasoning step by step.

Federal Cadet begins with simple duties, but your progression gradually opens access to more serious cases: stolen vehicles, burglaries, local disputes, drugs, assaults, and larger connected investigations.

As your reputation grows, Pinewood reveals a deeper criminal layer beneath its quiet surface.

Before its Early Access release, Federal Cadet will offer a playable demo focused on the foundations of the experience: discovering Pinewood, early patrol duties, citations, radio calls, and an introduction to the investigation system.

Early Access will then expand the core of the game: local free-play, progression within the Pinewood Police Department, new case families, gameplay improvements, and major narrative cases.
