About This Game

FleetForge is a roguelike shipbuilder for fans of FTL, Void War, Cosmoteer and RimWorld. You start each run with one small ship and a handful of crew. If it goes well, you end it flying a fleet made mostly of ships and parts you took from the people who tried to kill you.

How a fight ends decides what you get out of it. If you blow an enemy ship apart, you get scrap. If you kill its Command Core, its guns and machinery survive and you can take them. If you board it and capture it, you keep nearly everything.

You design your ship one cell at a time, placing guns, ammo stores, corridors, doors, crew quarters and thrusters. Your crew walk those corridors during a fight, so the layout matters. A gunner has to sit at the cannon's console and a hauler has to carry shells from the store, and the longer that walk is, the slower the gun fires. Between fights you can pull parts off captured ships, fit them to your own, and spend scrap repairing what got shot off.

Load crew into a Boarding Bay and launch them at an enemy ship in a pod. Once they're aboard, you control each boarder directly as they fight through the ship room by room, with guns and in melee. If the defenders reach their Command Core first, they can scuttle the ship rather than let you have it.

When the last defender is down, the ship is yours. You can crew it and fly it with your fleet, or strip it for parts.

You can command up to three ships at once. Every new ship needs a crew, and the only crew you have are the ones already working your other ships, so every gunner you move is one fewer on the ship they left. Your crew have names, take injuries, and stay dead when they die. Sometimes the ship you stole outlives the one you started with.

Each run crosses six sectors on a new randomized map. Routes branch and you can only move forward, so you're always choosing between a safer path, better salvage, or a harder fight. The sectors get more dangerous as you go, and the run ends at the Destination against a boss fleet.
